Luxury Family Holidays in March

Easter cannot come too soon after months of a UK winter, and with less than 7 hours flying time from the UK, a family holiday to Dubai must appeal to families with children of any age. Average temperatures hit 27 degrees and it has an unrivalled collection of hotels, attractions, shopping malls and beaches.  Just a little further to transfer, Dubai’s culture topping Oman has the beautiful resort, Six Senses Zighy Bay – a family winner with bags of authenticity as well as a dreamy beach and desert adventures.

The Caribbean is among the best family holiday destinations for March and those who can travel before the Easter holidays begin will make considerable savings.  Turquoise has a family resort to suit everyone from the classic colonial style of Barbados to the quiet salubriousness of Anguilla.  If the jet lag-free ease of South Africa appeals, head to the Western Cape and in the Indian Ocean, this is one of the best times of year to visit the Seychelles.  Asia is also perfect for a family holiday in March and a jungle safari and beach holiday in Thailand would fit the bill perfectly, as would a cultural beach holiday in Vietnam or Sri Lanka – ideal for curious teenagers.  If you are planning that once-in-a-lifetime trip to Southern Australia, Easter holidays are a perfect time to go to New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia or Tasmania.

Our Top Family Hotels & Resorts

  • Pimalai Resort & Spa

There is something really quite special about Pimalai, the name translates from the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit as ‘little patch of heaven’ and it goes without saying that the location is idyllic. Koh Lanta is a very peaceful place, a natural island with a quiet charm that is thankfully still largely unspoiled with beautiful beaches and soaring emerald green mountains but it is more than this that makes Pimalai so extraordinary. We think it’s the luxury of somewhere very special that manages to be very unique and exclusive but without any of the fuss. Overlooking beautiful Kantiang Bay and surrounded by native forest, this well laid out and low-rise resort sits absolute beachfront and then clambers into the hills behind. Access to the resort is from the mainland jetty by launch – all adding to the sense of exclusivity.

  • Six Senses Zighy Bay

With an almost biblical location on the Musandam Peninsula in the Sultanate of Oman, Six Senses Zighy Bay is flanked by the rugged Hajar Mountains and the azure, crystalline waters of Zighy Bay. This is remote with a capital R, however access is actually very easy with flights into Dubai’s state-of-the-art airport followed by a two hour road transfer. A dramatic 4x4 drive down into the bay is how most guests choose to arrive or perhaps the idea of a 15 minute speedboat ride from the nearby port is more appealing. For thrill seekers who are after a truly ‘Bond-esque’ sense of arrival, why not paraglide in across the bay!
