Secrets of Vietnam and Cambodia Revealed

Combine the highlights of these two beautiful countries with some hidden places, unique experiences and charming hotels.

  • Days 1-2 Hanoi

On arrival in Hanoi, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The following day, our local guide will introduce you to the city, starting with cup of special Hanoian coffee and an insight into daily Vietnamese life. Explore the city and see the historic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, which is a historic Buddhist temple and finally the Temple of Literature, the first University for the sons of mandarins, for an overview about Hanoian culture and appreciation for ancient Vietnamese architecture.

Stay: 2 nights Apricot Hotel, Hanoi including breakfast

  • Day 3 Halong & Lan Ha Bay

Transfer to the airport for your scenic seaplane flight to Halong Bay – a wonderful way to arrive with spectacular views of the three thousand majestic limestone karst islands. On arrival cruise down to the lesser known and much quieter Lan Ha Bay where you will board Heritage Ginger for your overnight cruise through this UNESCO World Heritage landscape.

Stay: 1 night on Heritage Ginger including all meals and activities.

  • Day 4 – 5 Ninh Bin and Tam Coc

Cruise back to Cat Hai where you will be met and transferred to Ninh Binh Province which is located just south of Hanoi, the journey is approximately three hours’ drive.

Trang An Landscape complex in Tam Coc was recognized as the World Heritage Site in June 2014 and is a spectacular landscape of limestone karts peaks permeated with valleys, some of which are submerged, and surrounded by vertical cliffs. You’ll spend the next two days exploring this stunning landscape including a 2 hour row boat journey, cycle through the wetlands, local villages, rive paddies and beautiful karst formations of Van Long.

Stay: 2 nights at Tam Coc Gardens Hotel, including breakfast

  • Day 6 – 8 Hoi An

This World Heritage Listed ancient town is one of those charming places you could spend days exploring with narrow lanes, well-preserved buildings, old merchant’s houses with influences from Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese architecture, a the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and a colourful market with stalls brimming with local specialties including silk, which can be turned into fashionable garments within a day or two. During your stay enjoy a street food safari, exploring the unique tastes of local Vietnamese delicacies and finding hidden courtyards with the best restaurants that only the local know about – this is a truly privileged experience.

Stay: 3 nights at Anantara Hoi An including breakfast, or if you prefer you could consider staying a little longer in one of the nearby beach resorts, just 15 minutes from the centre of town (ask one of our team for a quote).

  • Day 9 – 10 Saigon and Mekong Delta

Fly to Saigon and spend the afternoon exploring the fascinating War Remnants Museum and the French colonial architecture of Dong Khoi street. On your second day head out of Saigon and drive south into the countryside of Ben Tre Province. Situated in the Delta of Mekong River, Ben Tre is famous for its tropical fruit gardens and traditional handicrafts made of coconuts. Cruise on the river by private boat, meander through its winding roads laden with coconut palms, orchards and rustic houses and stop by a local’s home. Afterward, get on tuk-tuk (or hop on a local bicycle and ride of 3 km) and travel along the narrow shady village roads to admire the tranquility of the Mekong villages. Meet local farmers and learn about their life before enjoying a sampan ride. (if you would prefer to extend your time on the Delta, click here for our suggestions to overnight here)
