Kohyao Island Resort

If you are seeking a peaceful and beautiful location with authentic Thai hospitality then Kohyao Island Resort is just the place. This boutique retreat is located on the remote island of Yao Noi, a lovely little island, sandwiched between Krabi and Phuket in the magnificent Phang Nga Bay. Only lightly touched by tourism Yao Noi is beautiful and unspoilt, beyond the resort there are a handful of local restaurants but this is not the place for buzzing nightlife.

Koyao Island Resort

A hidden gem, Koyao Island Resort has just eighteen individual thatched roofed bungalows scattered amongst the open gardens. They stretch along one of the most picturesque beaches we have found in Thailand; the sand is soft between your toes and the views spectacular.

SLEEP

Accommodation is extremely spacious and open plan, decorated with teak wood furnishings, local fabrics and drift wood, making it all feel very castaway. Bathrooms have both an indoor and outdoor area and are accessorised with luxury amenities. Choose from the Beach Villas, or the larger Beach Villas Suites, which are more recently upgraded and have double bath tubs. Family Beach Villas have two separate bedroom spaces, divided by a partition (but not a door) and plenty of living space for four. You’d call the style VERY rustic and not at all polished, so if gold taps are your style then this is not for you.

PLAY

Amongst the gardens there are plenty of hammocks and sun loungers to sit back, relax and simply enjoy the views of the limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay. Cool off in the infinity pool, located right on the beach, take out one of the complimentary kayaks or join one of the twice weekly resort boat trips around the island. Guests can explore Yao Noi Island on the resorts’ complimentary bikes or scooters.

Everything about this resort is charming, local and traditional – it is not polished luxury or even top class service but for those seeking a remote haven then this is simply perfect.

Idyllic Benguerra Island in southern Mozambique is home to Azura Benguerra - our all-time favourite Robinson Crusoe eco-retreat where off-map seclusion and ‘fresh-from-the-ocean’ cuisine is offered in abundance.
