Acron Villas, Paros

Acron Villas is a collection of 24 two, three, four and five-bedroom whitewashed villas encased within traditional stone walls and overlooking Kolymbithres Beach. Each one is blessed with eye-popping panoramas of the shimmering Aegean Sea and this is reflected in the title of every room type. Each one is named after a shade of blue: turquoise (our favourite, naturally), sky, indigo and azure.

The wide variety of bedrooms make these villas great options for every type of traveller, whether you're honeymooners seeking romance-laden seclusion, a group of friends or a family looking for a safe, fun base from which to have a memorable holiday. Inside, every villa is adorned with whitewashed walls, with charcoal-hued window and door frames. Straight, clean lines are a marked contrast to the cave-like archways and curving ceilings of the accommodation found on its Cycladic sisters Santorini and Mykonos. Light woods, charcoal and navy colours add stylish splashes throughout the spacious living and dining areas spread across at least two floors, while the fully kitted kitchens come with everything you need to conjure fresh Greek dishes during your stay.

Back outside, every villa also boasts a giant terrace and swimming pool (complete with striped sunloungers) from which to fall in love with the stupendous views over Paros and its glittering coastline.

Your fully fitted kitchen is the perfect blank canvas for you to whip up your own Greek classics, with an oven and cooker, coffee machine and fridge. But Acron Villas' perfect position in Paros shouldn't be ignored and there are a number of fantastic traditional tavernas within a short walk away that would be perfect for lunch or dinner.

We can imagine it must be tempting just to lie beside your huge private pool all day and admire Paros' idyllic scenery but its fantastic location is also an irresistible invitation to explore the island's wider treasures. A hire car would be a great option so you can see as much of the island as possible.

Kolymbithres Beach is only a few minutes' walk away and its cream-coloured sands and unique granite formations are a beguiling backdrop to base yourself for an afternoon. Monastiri beach, just 4km away, is a slender sandy curve hemmed in by imposing rocky hills where you can relax or enjoy one of the many organised water sports on offer here. The 800-acre Paros Park lies just behind the beach and its rock formations, walking trails, secret coves and monastery make up a hidden corner of Paros few know about.

Beyond the beaches, the fishing village of Naoussa is only 5km away and we'd heartily recommend wandering its labyrinthine lanes for a day, where you'll stumble upon its trendy boutiques, artisanal delicatessens and authentic restaurants lining the seafront – the latter great choices for a traditional lunch or dinner.

Though there isn't a dedicated spa at Acron Villas, the concierge service can arrange for a number of spa treatments to take place in the privacy of your villa.
