Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, Thailand
Fronting the longest beach in Phuket and tickled by the cerulean waters of the Andaman Sea, Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas can be found hiding on the island’s sleepy northern coast.
Enveloped by the lush jungle of Sirinat National Park, this all-pool villa evokes an authentic Asian feel that immediately slows your pulse from the moment you arrive. Think beautiful teak wooden floors, intricate Thai carvings and local artwork, all of which cleverly blends in with the contemporary – but not overly ornate – flair that knits the resort together. Designed in the style of a traditional Thai village, the villas are set around an extensive lagoon among gardens speckled with jasmine and tropical orchids. Anantara Mai Khao really embraces the nature it’s surrounded by, from the ducks paddling the waterlily-covered pond to the baritone sounds of the bullfrogs who soundtrack the resort every time dusk rolls around.
But we’re sure you’ve not just come to Phuket to relax, as it’s an island dripping with adventure. The resort’s wonderfully named Director of Discovery will help you make the most of your time here, with the likes of elephant trekking, hiking, water sports lessons and even cruises around Phang Nga Bay in a classic junk on the list of things you can do on this tropical island gem. And that’s just scratching the surface…
