Watch grazing elephants from Four Seasons Tented Camp
Thailand

Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Thailand

Four Seasons Tented Camp is one of those special remote hideaways which has to be seen to be believed. 15 luxurious tents are nestled into the jungle by the Ruak River, overlooking Laos and Myanmar in Thailand’s Golden Triangle. This is a truly exceptional place! Not only is the natural setting stunning but you are also overlooking elephants grazing in their natural habitat below the tents. Four Seasons has set up an adjoining elephant sanctuary, caring for rescued elephants and the family of their mahouts (keepers) and there’s no end to the opportunities to interact with these magnificent pachyderms. Get up close and personal as you bathe, feed and walk with them through the beautiful natural forest. The camp is also home to a bird sanctuary. Take a boat cruise down the Mekong and enjoy a picnic on the river, trek through the surrounding jungle, visit local temples and hill tribes or simply enjoy the tranquil surrounds of the camp from the balcony of your luxurious tent and indulge in a massage at the camp spa.

Highlights

Four Seasons Tented Camp

Sleep

Each of the tents has unique, themed decor that reflects the culture of northern Thailand. Rustic yet elegant safari-style decor uses local materials such as hard woods, bamboo and leather for customised, handcrafted furniture. Each feature plush bedding, open-plan breezy living spaces and a refreshing outdoor shower. Deluxe tents also have a private wooden hot tub on the outdoor deck.

Eat

This is the kind of place you arrive as a stranger and leave as a friend, as the team of friendly Thai staff cater for your every need with the warmth and authentic hospitality Thailand is so well known for. Nothing is too much trouble and the service is exemplary, as is the attention to detail in the design of the camp – an original creation by famous designer Bill Bensley. Built in the style of a 19th-century explorers’ camp, you’ll find the Burma Bar, which is decorated with maps, tribal antiques and navigation equipment reminiscent of early exploration. However, this one is slightly more luxurious and the perfect spot for sundowner cocktails with the jungles of Burma, mountains of Laos and the elephant camp as a beautiful backdrop. Nong Yao restaurant serves up the finest Thai, Laotian and Burmese cooking, or you can dine in the wine cellar within the elephant camp, have breakfast at the resort’s highest point or on the spacious deck of your tent.

Pamper and Play

Get up close and personal as you bathe, feed and walk with them through the beautiful natural forest. The camp is also home to a bird sanctuary. Take a boat cruise down the Mekong and enjoy a picnic on the river, trek through the surrounding jungle, visit local temples and hill tribes or simply enjoy the tranquil surrounds of the camp from the balcony of your luxurious tent and indulge in a massage at the camp spa.

We’d recommend spending at least three or four nights here to fully appreciate the region. The camp offers various packages including all meals, drinks and a programme of activities.

Honeymoons

Indulge in a luxurious honeymoon by choosing to stay in one of the Four Seasons tent accommodations:

  • Enjoy a private picnic expertly prepared by the hotel's camp chef, surrounded by breathtaking views of the forest and river.
