Amorita Resort, Philippines
Amorita Resort is located at the end of Alona Beach, an idyllic stretch of powder white sand with gorgeous clear turquoise waters – a perfect choice for Turquoise Holidays! Along the beach you’ll find local beach shacks where you can enjoy a couple of beers or partake in a massage on the sand. Further along the beach, in the evenings, you’ll find lively bars and restaurants, however it is not a spoilt beach or over developed, like you find elsewhere in South East Asia, this is in its infancy so is fun and charming. The resort is set up on a hillside at the end of the bay, with stunning views out to the ocean, so you have the peace and seclusion of a luxury resort, but can step down to the beach if you want to join in with the lively scene.
Amorita is a four star boutique hotel with just 82 Suites and Villas, all decorated with natural colours, local timbers and use of tadelakt, a stylish polished plaster effect, creating a natural minimalist contemporary edge and simple luxury. Choose from Junior Suites with a small living area and balcony or patio, the One Bedroom Suites are almost double the size with a separate living space with two day bed/sofas for spacious living or for an additional two guests. Two Bedroom Suites have an additional room and fantastic views of the ocean. The One Bedroom Pool Villas are THE rooms to stay in with spacious indoor/outdoor living and breath-taking views of the ocean.
Next to the main pool Saffron Restaurant serves up delicious local Filipino dishes along with fresh seafood and international favourites. Upstairs in air-conditioned comfort Tomar Tapas Bar offers classic Spanish dishes from Tapas, Paellas and Pintxos.
A second pool overlooks Alona Beach and Amorita’s spa has an exclusive range of treatments from authentic Filipino massage therapies to Asian healing rituals. Yoga is offered as well as complimentary bicycles to explore the local area. Snorkelling and diving are of course one of the top draws for this region and the resort can arrange visits to Bohol’s best dive sites, with an in-house PADI Dive centre. Kids are well looked after with a children’s playground and children’s activities are organised daily, such as cookie decorating, pizza making, film showing and original arts and crafts – kids will also delight at the candy buffet and popsicles around the pool.
Amorita is contemporary and stylish and feels like an exclusive luxury resort, however it really is great value for money and doesn’t rate itself quite as highly as some of the more exclusive hotels in The Philippines. The standard and service may not quite match those prices either, so expect an element of local hospitality and charm but your money really will go much further here and we love it.
