The resort itself offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and is approximately a 30-minute drive from Mount Penanjakan. From there, it takes about an hour to hike to the vantage point where you can watch the sun rise magnificently over Mount Bromo. For longer stays, guests can enjoy a jeep safari, horseback riding, a day as a farmer, or a cooking class.

Built in a style similar to that of the Borobudur Temple itself, the resort is really something – with its main structure being a circular limestone monolith centred by a soaring bell-shaped rotunda. Marble steps lead down from The Bar to The Restaurant with its silver-leaf ceiling, drop fans, teak wood floors all in traditional Javanese style and pretty impressive.

The resort has 50 contemporary rooms with ensuite bathrooms and warm running water, which is quite a rarity in this remote region. The rooms are simple but comfortable and for more space you can upgrade to a Junior Suite with a separate living space. The luxury here is the location.
