Sala Lodges, Siem Reap
Authentic and enchanting, Sala Lodges resembles a rural Cambodian village. This unique collection of lodges features eleven traditional Khmer wooden houses on stilts, collected from villages in the Cambodian countryside and lovingly rebuilt and restored in the countryside just a mile outside Siem Reap. Amid mature gardens of sugar palm and banana plants and with views across palm trees and rice paddies, the rustic rooms boast high ceilings, sprawling verandas, wooden furniture and handmade fabrics. Contrasting with the slick and contemporary style of the reception, restaurant, bar and swimming pool this resort is intimate, romantic and unusual – definitely a new Turquoise favourite!
The Monolith restaurant and bar is striking with its contemporary and pure lines. This light and airy space offers a magnificent view of the traditional Khmer houses of Sala Lodges. The chef and his team lovingly cook ingredients which subtly combine eastern and western flavours. Each day at dawn, a cook goes to the local markets in search of the best products.
Following a day touring the temples relax by the 20 metre pool, shaded by frangipani trees or arrange a massage in your room. Linked to the dining room by a wooden bridge, the lounge, which is open to the sky, is the ideal place to enjoy a drink with the occasional glance or two at the Khmer countryside and the beautiful trees that surround Sala Lodges. If you would prefer to head to one of the top class restaurants in Siem Reap the lodge provides each guests with an appointed tuk-tuk and driver.
