Accommodation is spread across a collection of whitewashed cottages and the Manor House, each with incredibly tasteful interiors that lean into a coastal, home-from-home feel - relaxed but beautifully put together. Soft linens, natural textures and bold nautical touches give the spaces heaps of character.

Some cottages suit couples, others work beautifully for families or groups, but all feel considered and comfortable. Expect fireplaces, verandas and views across the lagoon or gardens. These are spaces you’ll genuinely want to spend time in.

Dining is relaxed and unfussy, often enjoyed together around long tables in the historic Spookhuis or outside beneath the old milkwood trees. The food is seasonal and locally sourced, with a simple coastal approach - wood-fired pizzas, barbecue chicken, fresh salads and easy, home-style dishes.

As sunset nears, the ship’s bell is rung and guests gather on the lawn or jetty for sundowners before an informal dinner. The atmosphere is warm and chatty, more like staying with friends than checking into a formal hotel, and you’ll never feel the need to dress up.

Stays here centre around the lagoon and the surrounding reserve. Guests can sail, kayak and paddleboard from the jetty, cycle quiet tracks, or try quad biking across the landscape.

One of the real highlights is being driven by Land Rover to Coot Club’s wild, untouched beach - often with no one else in sight - for sandboarding and swimming. It’s this access to space and the thoughtful personal touches from the team that make the experience feel special and genuinely memorable.
