- Seringet Mara Camp
Seringet Mara Camp
Tucked away within indigenous riverine forest at the confluence of the Mara and Talek Rivers in the heart of the Masai Mara, Seringet is a traditional tented camp which embodies the original, authentic spirit of safari. Owned and operated by Nigel Archer, a fourth generation Kenyan, whose father Tony has been a pioneer in the safari industry since 1957, Seringet upholds the safari elegance of a bygone era. To stay here is to experience the heart and soul of safari. Nigel has used his decades of deep regional knowledge to select the camp’s prime location which is perfectly positioned to witness one of nature’s greatest spectacles, the Great Migration. In season, the camp offers front-row seats to this extraordinary wildlife event but year round, the area is abundant with wildlife. The camp opens out onto sweeping views of the Mara Plains, yet the forested setting ensures privacy and seclusion. The name Seringet means ‘vast open plains’ in the Maasai language - a fitting tribute to the surrounding landscape. Safari authenticity is the keynote here, right in the wild heart of Kenya’s Masai Mara.
Seringet Mara Camp
Seringet has nine traditional East African ensuite safari tents, including two family tents. Each is a beautifully crafted tented bush refuge where classic safari charm has been reimagined with modern comforts, including a hot safari shower, flush toilet and solar powered lighting. The family tents have a double and a twin room, each with an ensuite. Understated luxury prevails throughout, with elegant furnishings, fine linen and a private verandah with safari chairs for quiet contemplation and meaningful connection with the wilderness.
Breakfast is typically a picnic in the bush during a morning game drive while lunch and dinner are traditional safari convivial affairs, around a communal long table. Meals are delicious, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients taking centre-stage, served lantern-lit under the African night sky. Afternoon game drives end with a favourite sundowner stop under a tree for a G&T as the sun goes down and after dinner, shared safari stories often linger long into the night around the flickering campfire. This is safari in its truest sense.
Days unfold with early morning and afternoon game drives, nature walks around camp and cultural visits to Maasai communities. For families, children’s activities with the guides are included. Sunrise hot air balloon safaris over the Mara plains are a must-do recommendation! The wildlife viewing is exceptional and the guides are outstanding – all have benefitted from Nigel Archer’s wealth of knowledge and experience.
