Nigel Archer Safaris Seasonal Migration and Big Cats Camp, Kenya

This eco-friendly seasonal mobile camp is operated and managed by third generation Kenyan, Nigel Archer, and his exceptionally experienced safari team. Co-owner of the highly-regarded Naibor Camp in the Masai Mara, Nigel has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the African bush and he knows the best locations for the most spectacular wildlife viewings. Kenya is the original home of safari and there is nowhere better for an authentic under canvas safari, reminiscent of the bygone safari days of old. From January to  March, the camp operates as the Big Cats Camp, superbly located in the heart of Big Cat territory in a prime setting amongst the seasonal short grasses within the Masai Mara National Reserve. From July to September, the camp begins its second season of the year as Nigel Archer Safaris Seasonal Migration Camp, when it is perfectly positioned to follow the movement of the one million herding wildebeest and thousands of zebras and gazelles as they pound the African plains in search of fresh grasslands. Few spectacles can compete with Africa's great migration - one of the world's most sought after travel experiences. You will be guided by Nigel or one of his small team of expert guides, all of whom possess an exceptional knowledge of Africa, its culture and its wildlife.

Sleep

No safari is complete without time spent under canvas in the style of the old explorers and this camp is no exception. The camp comprises 'Out of Africa' authentic tents, all designed from decades of safari experience. Rustic but comfortable, the tents are kitted out with a plumbed toilet, a double bed, a basin, lamps and a bucket shower. A full crew of outstanding safari staff will cater for your every need, whether it is preparing a beautifully laid dinner under the stars or a piping hot shower, ready for you to freshen up and 'dust down' on return from your wildlife adventures!

Play

Kenya's world famous Masai Mara plays host to some of the most spectacular wildlife viewing in Africa. As a guest in camp, you can be assured of an exceptional position within the reserve. February is calving season and you can expect to see lots of baby animals being born, whilst during the migration season (usually from July to September / mid-October), the Mara River provides the herding wildebeest with their most serious obstacle. The scenes which play out in close proximity to the camp's movable setting, promise to be incredibly dramatic and thrilling! What's more, your safari will be complemented by delicious food and impeccable service. Adrenaline seekers can opt to float over the wildebeest migration in a hot air balloon or embark on a wildlife adventure on foot to get even closer to nature and then unwind with a relaxing massage at the end of a memorable day. At night, Mother Nature fills the African sky with a depth of stars you will only see in the wild. The real beauty of sleeping under canvas is not just the proximity to the wildlife but also the profound privacy of the savannah - you will undoubtedly feel as if it is just you and the African bush.
