Cape Town & Winelands

With its spectacular sea views and vibrant food and wine scene, Cape Town is at the cutting edge of fashionable places to visit, especially in their late summer - March and April! Cape Town has chic places to stay and boasts a wealth of wonderful beach bars and ‘see-and-be-seen’ restaurants and eateries which lead the way in culinary trends and tastes … all this, in addition to fabulous beaches, an outdoors lifestyle and iconic Table Mountain as a spectacular backdrop. And no visit to Cape Town would be complete without a stay in the beautiful Winelands - only an hour's drive away  .....and where better to stay than a working wine farm with charm and history in abundance! This 8 night holiday (for the price of 6 nights) allows time to explore both the city, beaches and the Winelands, on foot, by bike and by car, as well as indulge in the exceptional food and wine for which Cape Town and its surrounding area is so renowned! And at strong Pound to Rand prices - there's just never been a better time to visit!

What's more, in March and April, you can still enjoy warm sunny days with slightly cooler evenings ...Autumn is a serious 'foodie' time in Cape Town - the locals will tell you it's the best time...not to mention the long list of events happening from live music in the famous Kirstenbosch Gardens, the Jazz Festival and Taste of Cape Town Premier Food Festival to the Cape Argus Cycling Tour and the Two Oceans Marathon! It really is all happening in Cape Town in March and April!

  • Days 1-5 Kensington Place, Cape Town

Kensington Place is one of Cape Town’s most stylish boutique hotels, set on the slopes of Table Mountain. It has 8 individually designed guest rooms, each with a private balcony or terrace with magnificent views overlooking the harbour, city or Table Mountain. Fashionable Kloof Street with its trendy cafés and restaurants, is just a short stroll away. This is laid-back city luxury at its best – and it is the perfect base from which to explore and enjoy all that Cape Town has to offer!

Cape Town is unquestionably a spirited city with a big soul …it has even be referred to as ‘the New York of Africa’. The acclaimed Camps Bay strip, with its rows of palms and white beaches is a ‘must’ in the summer months – there are numerous great places to eat. Most importantly though, there’s no better way to get under a city’s skin, to meet its people, hear its beat and understand its culture than to get out and start walking.

Specialist guides will take you on daily fascinating walks, whether you want to know more about Cape Town’s rich history or its creative side through fashion and design.  You can even join an eco-active cycling tour of Cape Town at night!

Stay: 4 nights in a Standard Room at Kensington Place, with daily breakfast.

    Days 6-9 Babylonstoren, Winelands

A car will be delivered to Kensington Place this morning for your use throughout the rest of your holiday. When you're ready, head off on the scenic one hour's drive to the beautiful Winelands where your destination is Babylonstoren - an historic Cape Dutch working wine warm close to both Franschhoek (South Africa's foodie capital) and Stellenbosch.

Babylonstoren is one of the best preserved werfs (farm yards) in the Cape Dutch tradition. Spread over 600 acres, the farm was founded in 1690 and the manor house dates back to 1777. Twelve traditional farm workers cottages have been transformed into contemporary guest suites, all with views of the surrounding mountains.

The menu at Babylonstoren’s Babel restaurant (housed in a converted cow shed) is inspired by the organic fruit and vegetables grown in the eight acre formal French kitchen garden and all dishes are served with homemade cordials and fine Babylonstoren wines. Herbs are picked daily for use in the wonderful treatments at the Garden Spa - we highly recommend the Hammam Water Ritual! Breakfast with homemade muesli, fresh eggs, local ham from the valley and farm honey is always a welcome treat!

Babylonstoren is perfect for both families and couples... you can go canoeing on the farm dam or cycling through the vineyards, perhaps pick raspberries in season, take a cellar tour with wine tasting or enjoy the walk up Babylonstoren koppie - all 41 metres of it!

Stay: 4 nights in a One Bedroom Suite at Babylonstoren, with daily breakfast.

  • Take me there

Prices from £1,995 per person for 8 nights, including 4 nights at Kensington Place in a Standard Room with daily breakfast and 4 nights at Babylonstoren in a One Bedroom Suite with daily breakfast. International flights and transfers are included.
