Vomo Island Resort, Fiji
In the northern region of the Mamanuca Islands, just 15 minutes by seaplane or helicopter – or an hour by boat - from Nadi, Vomo Island Resort has it all... aquamarine waters, idyllic beaches, stylish accommodation, first-class cuisine and numerous activities. A contemporary sanctuary in this picturesque island group, this beautiful resort is an ideal escape for couples and families, with an abundance of space and privacy for everyone to design their own magical stay.
Vomo Island Resort
Vomo’s range of Villas and Residences exude elegance and style, with rich hardwood floors, muted tones, magnificent bathrooms, private sundecks and breathtaking views. Beachfront Villas (in pairs) and Beachfront Havens (freestanding) are tucked amongst the palms and frangipani trees just steps from the beach whilst Hillside Villas (freestanding) are elevated above the resort with far-reaching ocean views. For families, the two Beachfront Retreats can each accommodate a family of five, with the option to interconnect for larger groups. But for a new level of indulgence and added privacy, the fabulous selection of multi-bedroom beachfront Residences each come with a private pool and butler service.
Food plays an integral role in the Vomo experience - delicious meals using the finest local produce plucked from the herb and vegetable garden and from the ocean are served in the poolside Reef Restaurant or under a palm tree on the beach with tiki torches flickering under the star-studded sky. The stylish poolside Vuda Bar is perfect for a relaxing drink. A spectacular setting for sunset cocktails, we love the adults-only Rocks Bar at the far end of the island, adjacent to the idyllic adults-only pool. Drink a cocktail here and feel the worries of the world dissipate with every sip.
Vomo’s powder soft white sand beaches rank amongst the best in Fiji and are fringed with crystal clear turquoise waters, ideal for enjoying the wide array of watersports which include snorkelling, scuba-diving, kayaking, windsurfing, fishing and hobie-cat sailing. Island-hopping excursions, sunset cruises, volleyball, tennis and golf are also available. Or, hike to Vomo Point (the island’s highest point) for breathtaking panoramic views – but if this all sounds too energetic, just relax by the swimming pool, find a hammock strung between the trees, escape to the nearby tiny island of Vomo Lailai for a private picnic or indulge in a soothing spa treatment! The original name for Vomo was ‘Vonu’, Fijian for ‘turtle’ – the resort has a breeding programme for the hawksbill turtle – and children and adults alike will love to visit these creatures which are kept in captivity on the island until they are big enough to be released into the sea.
Sunrise Charity Challenge
Vomo excels when it comes to a romantic escape as well as the place to be for the perfect family holiday, but it’s also a resort with a conscience. For a donation to a local charity, you are invited to take on the Mt. Vomo Sunrise Charity Challenge! Compete against previous guests for the best time as you race up the hill behind the resort. Whether you beat the clock or not, the views are sensational! Vomo also encourages guests to ‘Pack for a Purpose’ and arrive with essential items for local villages and schools on nearby islands.
Little island guests will love the colourful Kids Village where Vomo's experienced baby butlers and nannies entertain children with a range of fun and engaging activities, whilst the club’s own chef prepares nutritious dishes and snacks. Accessed via a little suspension bridge, the Kids Club is a bright, fun and interactive environment for youngsters to enjoy whilst mums and dads head to the adults-only pool and Rocks Bar for some relaxed holiday time in the knowledge that their kids are having the time of their lives!
Children aged between 8 and 12 years with reasonable confidence in the water can enjoy the entertaining and beneficial 'Bubble Blowers' course with an instructor guiding them through the process of using equipment to breathe under water.
Adventurous children aged 10 years and over can try Scuba diving on the resort's exciting PADI Discover Scuba Diving course. This combines theory with a practical diving session at a depth of up to 12 metres.
