Park Hyatt Dubai

Found on the tranquil banks of Dubai Creek, the Park Hyatt feels anything but a city centre hotel. The low-rise buildings are like that of a quiet residential neighbourhood and its design echoes the mellow pace of the Mediterranean. The whitewashed Moorish architecture is akin to a Moroccan seaside town and the magenta bursts and royal blue domes remind you of the Greek island of Santorini, though the wafts of frankincense pull your senses back to the Middle East. The pretty palm-flecked manicured gardens only serve to slow your pulse further. The service here is anything but sleepy, however, with astounding attention to detail, perceptive staff and ultra-luxurious rooms sure to make your eyes light up on arrival.

This certainly doesn't feel like the dynamic Dubai we're used to. But this sleepy setting is easily the Park Hyatt's biggest drawcard and if you gaze across the waterfront, the glitzy skyscrapers of Dubai's bustling core lie on the horizon, pleasingly at arm's length – Dubai Mall, the Burj Khalifa and the airport are only a 10-minute drive away. The Park Hyatt offers the best of both worlds and you'll find yourself thankful for a peaceful bolthole to return to each day.

Highlights

Park Hyatt Dubai

Sleep

The Park Hyatt's rooms are incredibly spacious and each one comes with a balcony or terrace facing towards the glittering waters of Dubai Creek and the city's avant-garde skyline beyond. When it comes to the room interiors, neutral desert hues abound, with whites, creams and a mixture of light and dark woods create a relaxing atmosphere. The delicate horseshoe arches, local contemporary artwork and modern Arabian decor add to the Middle Eastern feel of the rooms, while the deep freestanding tubs, cloud-soft beds and espresso machines are just a few of the luxuries that lie within. Upgrade to a suite and you'll have a comfortable separate living area to enjoy, as well as being surprised by lovely extra touches like a complimentary bottle of wine and bouquet of flowers.

Eat

Dining at Park Hyatt Dubai is like embarking on a worldwide food tour. A quintet of its food and drink offerings can be found at The Promenade, a hub set right on the waterfront offering beautiful alfresco dining. Brasserie du Park serves up Normandy-inspired dishes in an unpretentious setting – think beef cheek bourguignon and lobster thermidor – and NOÉPE brings both New England and Nikkei food to the Middle East, where you can enjoy miso-marinated halibut and Boston seafood soup with Dubai Creek right in front of you. The authentic Thai Kitchen features a trio of live cooking stations, one each for wok, grill and noodles, and The Lounge makes for a tranquil spot to enjoy afternoon tea among pretty gardens and fountains. Brunch has become an institution in Dubai and there isn't anywhere better to sample it than at the Park Hyatt, whose lavish Traiteur Brunch has won a host of awards for the best in the city. If you're a sweet tooth, you'll also love the desserts and Arabic treats created at pastry boutique Pastiche.

Play

Golfers will love the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, which is adjacent to the Park Hyatt. With its unique sail-shaped clubhouse and date palm-lined fairways, its world-class 18-hole course is one of the best and most attractive in the Middle East. The pool, with its palm tree insets and whirlpools, is an irresistible place to relax, while the infinity-edge lagoon which laps the beach is spectacular. There are also a number of cooking classes you can also sign up to in the hotel's restaurants. Beyond the hotel's walls, Dubai is a playground waiting to be explored, where you can wander the endless shops of Dubai Mall, have fun in its multitude of theme parks and waterworlds or just find a sun-bleached beach to laze on.

Pamper

Park Hyatt's luxurious Amara Spa has eight treatment rooms, with each one boasting its own private garden and indoor and outdoor garden. The wealth of treatments not only draw on ancient techniques using the natural elements of sapphire, ruby, emerald and diamond, but are also accompanied by Arabian teas and authentic delicacies that will keep your stomach happy as well as your soul.
