Owned by Cuban-born writer and artist Sandra Pérez Lozano, as its name suggests, Ser CasaSandra is intended to feel as much like a home as a hotel. There’s a bohemian vibe: think homemade hammocks, an eclectic collection of antiques and rattan furniture, while art adorns every wall. At times you could be in an art gallery by the ocean, all set to a chilled soundtrack personally selected by Sandra. Colour schemes range from pale blue to vivid oranges that reflect both Mexico and Cuba. Creative, fresh, and utterly unique, Ser CasaSandra is also a place of stillness, a refuge for healing and reconnection, whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual. Days can be spent doing nothing, but if you can muster the energy, go snorkelling or canter along the beach on horseback. Island life at its very best.

Although a small hotel, you'll find three restaurants on offer at Ser CasaSandra - Ser Esencia, Mojito's and Maiz. The food is a highlight, with chef Robert Solis fusing Mayan and international flavours. There’s also a weekly Cuban night with jazz, mojitos, and a menu to match.

Sleep

Ser CasaSandra features just 17 rooms (and one villa), made from local materials, and dotted throughout tropical gardens. Each is quiet: there are no televisions or phones, just the sound of the sea as it ebbs and flows. Choose from a cosy room with a lush tropical garden outlook or a luxurious suite with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.

Here is a place to be selfish and indulge in me-time. And where better to head than AHAL, the first holistic centre on Holbox. It offers everything from osteopathy, restorative physiotherapy, deep massages and meditation to outdoor yoga, healing with Tibetan bowls and Mayan cleansing.
