Aldea Kuka
Isla Holbox

Aldea Kuka

It was love at first sight at Aldea Kuka, a luxury retreat on the beach with exceptional eco credentials. Mexican owner, Marco Z. Garcia Marquez has created an adult-only dreamboat of a hideaway made from wood, logs, bamboo and thatched in palm. What’s more, Marco desperately wants to protect Isla Holbox, so sustainability is at Aldea Kuka’s core. There are solar panels, the use of plastic is avoided, and he even had its own forest planted to help offset carbon emissions. It is the perfect place to relax, recharge and enjoy rustic luxury with Mexican flair.

Highlights

Aldea Kuka

Sleep

The accommodation at Aldea Kuka consists of huge fairy-tale type treehouses and although rustic and simple from the outside, inside is a different story. These vast cocoons are among some of the island’s coolest rooms. Kitted out with furniture and accessories sourced from artisans throughout Mexico, there are hand-carved tables, woven bags, huge stone tubs, hammocks galore and some suites even come with their own swing. The king-sized beds are super-comfortable with cloud-like pillows and the softest linen. The detail is exquisite, but so subtle it seems effortless.

Eat

There are two restaurants on offer at Aldea Kuka – Kukatch and La Malix. Both dish up a fusion of farm-to-table cuisine, celebrating local flavours and international influences. The seafood is an absolute must!

Pamper & Play

There’s a beautiful infinity pool and a spa specialising in natural and holistic treatments, with a team of incredibly friendly and helpful staff.
