C Mauritius

A holiday always feels like an excuse to channel your inner Peter Pan and live like you've never grown up. The all-inclusive C Mauritius takes that childhood spirit and runs with it – if Mauritius, with its lush mountainous core, is nature's playground then C Mauritius is yours. Adult-sized swings, a science lab-like cocktail maker and a beach bistro called Wok 'N Roll all point to a playful attitude. Youthful the vibe may be but this eastern coast resort is for all ages – it's all about bringing the child out in you.

It's an atmosphere that you might think is bordering on kitsch but there's nothing low-brow about this resort. It's very tastefully done, with vivid splashes of hot pink, orange, cerulean blue and golden yellow speckling the resort in its furnishings, parasols and decor. There's a cool and funky atmosphere that's never overcooked, with live music and DJs playing chilled lounge rhythms, house and soul beats on the beach.

There's even room to burn off some youthful energy, from guided treks among the surrounding mountains to the outside gym made entirely from natural materials. The handsomely stocked cellar doesn't follow the script but it's wealth of organic wines means you won't care. A care-free attitude is exactly what C Mauritius wants you to have and you'll leave feeling like you've revisited your fondest childhood memories.

C Mauritius

Sleep

The accommodation at C Mauritius is divided into two types: Prestige and Deluxe Rooms. Warmth, style and comfort are teamed up with a design that's sympathetic to the local area. Each room comes with either a terrace or balcony with a spacious seating area.

The Prestige Rooms incorporates a lot of natural elements like wood and wicker among the whitewashed interior, while turquoise cushions and throws add that youthful character. The bathrooms are generously sized, too.

The Deluxe Rooms are bigger and have an additional day bed for relaxing on. The feel in these rooms is even lighter and introduces even more colour with its multi-hued rugs and aquamarine headboards. The bathrooms are accessed through sliding doors, which can be opened up fully to make the room more open plan.

Eat

All guests at C Mauritius stay on an all-inclusive basis so they can take full advantage of the resort's four restaurants.

The Dining Room is the main restaurant and main go-to for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a delicious array of international buffet options. Wok 'N Roll is a more intimate affair overlooking the beach and, as the name suggests, serves a sizzling mix of Asian fusion food.

If you get hunger pangs during the day, don't worry. There are plenty of lunch options, with Chow and Carafe designed like a bustling marketplace and deli outlet, with live cooking stations whipping up tasty, fresh light bites crafted from local produce. Come tea time, your sweet tooth can be satisfied by a selection of pancakes, ice-cream and cakes.

If you find yourself not even wanting to leave the pillow-soft sand for a bite to eat, the Beach Bistro is your answer. Its bar has a handsome menu of summery cocktails and drinks, while its range of snacks can be served in bento boxes so you can satisfy your stomach without needing to leave your sunlounger.

Play

C Mauritius is all about channelling your childlike spirit, so there is plenty to do here. The three swimming pools mean there's lots of space to spread out, relax and take a dip while soaking up views of the glorious beach.

The resort's Clubhouse is a one-stop shop for all the water sports you've wanted to try as a kid but never quite had the time. Spend your days kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling and windsurfing, while you can even take diving initiation classes in one of the pools. After that adrenaline you'll want some downtime and you can wind down on the beach to the sound of Sessions by the C, a mix of cool soul, funk and house tunes played by a resident DJ. Live music also usually plays at least one evening a week.

Elsewhere around the resort, there's a tennis court, padel tennis court and a huge range of beach games, including beach volleyball, kanjam, ladder golf and bocce.

Aside from fun on the beach and the ocean, C Mauritius heartily encourages all of its guests to explore the island beyond its walls. Guided C Treks allow you to explore its mountains and lush countryside, while a Crustacea pirogue experience is a boat trip in a traditional Mauritian fashion.

Guests also have access to both Legend and Links golf courses at its sister hotel, Constance Belle Mare Plage. Complimentary green fees are included.

Pamper

C Mauritius has its own spa, C Spa, where you can indulge in a number of rejuvenating massages and facials. There's also a sauna and a steam room.
