Strawberry Hill, Jamaica
Set high above Kingston on the steep slopes of the Blue Mountains, Strawberry Hill is a unique retreat owned by music industry icon Chris Blackwell. Having come to tea here with his mother for many years, a childhood dream was fulfilled when he purchased the hotel in 1972. Strawberry Hill became a haven for musicians and legendary Jamaican artist, Bob Marley, enjoyed romantic rendezvous here and found shelter and peace after threats to his life in the mid-1970s.
With its beautiful mountain location Strawberry Hill is the perfect place to relax before heading to the beach.
Just 12 bespoke cottages each have their own individual personality and every balcony is angled just-so to capture the jaw-dropping view. Design is a modern interpretation of classic colonial style and these white washed, timber framed cottages are totally enchanting.
Dining at Strawberry Hill is a celebration of New Jamaican cuisine. Traditional dishes get a subtle contemporary twist and Sunday brunch has become something of an institution. The delectable spa is tucked away along flower-strewn paths and the pure air and mountain vistas will ensure all your cares just slip away!
Strawberry Hill’s tranquil mountain top location ensures guests privacy and seclusion, however, it also offers access to some of the most breath-taking hiking trails. Guests can venture out on short walks alone, or for longer, more intrepid hikes, head out with a guide and discover hidden waterfalls, bubbling streams, local coffee plantations and native villages, as well as witnessing some awe-inspiring views! The Spa is on hand to relieve any post-trek aching muscles or simply for a pampering treatment. Therapists use preparations created from local botanicals such as lavender and coconut to aid relaxation and rejuvenation.
