For those seeking a hotel with more of a local neighbourhood location, away from the tourist hotspots of Circular Quay and The Rocks, Ace Hotel is a new boutique hotel with a cool modern vibe situated on the edge of the city centre and Surry Hills. The vicinity is diverse, friendly and interesting with many great boutiques, cafes, restaurant and bars all within easy walking distance. It is also easy to navigate the city with plenty of public transport options making everywhere accessible – the CBD is about a 15-minute walk from here.
Ace Hotel Sydney
It has been stylishly converted from an old brick factory with original features highlighted throughout the resort with exposed concrete and brick along with warm tones of terracotta, dark leathers and pops of mustard. Rooms are a little retro-70s in style and almost all come with an acoustic guitar and a record player with a selection of vinyl to choose from. No need to worry about noise – all rooms are sound proofed!
Kiln is their rooftop bar and restaurant (with a retractable roof) and is THE place to be/be seen. The menu is woodfired and focuses on seafood and veggie delights. Loam is attached to the lobby on the ground floor and serves Aussie breakfasts and dinner with a Mediterranean/Arabic influence and adjacent to this, the bar is bustling in the evenings and popular with Sydney-siders and city slickers. We love the whole vibe here, especially the very warm welcome by the super friendly Ace team.
