- COMO The Treasury, Perth
COMO The Treasury, Perth
The fabulous new Treasury hotel occupies a group of late Victorian stone and brick buildings – known at ‘State Buildings’ which have played an important role in the Perth’s history in the past 140 years, serving variously as a post office, land titles office, and treasury. COMO hotels - Turquoise favourites, known for their luxury touches and world class service have transformed this heritage space into a truly world class hotel, fantastically located close the shops and restaurants and in walking distance to the Quay and Kings Park.
While the hotel looks like a Neoclassical palace on the outside, inside it has a stripped back, modern feel with natural colours used throughout - a perfect fusion of contemporary chic meets classic heritage. The architecture includes columns and bold, cantilevered balconies designed in flamboyant neo-Renaissance style. The restoration project has returned 95 per cent of the buildings to their 19th-century origins, including the re-installation of dormer windows and Victorian roofs finished with copper trimmings.
COMO The Treasury
From the moment you arrive, you are pampered. Greeted with a glass of champagne, taken on a tour of the facilities/hotel, introduced to the manager and then welcomed to your room. This is hotel heaven and the rooms are huge and gorgeously decorated. Each of the 48 rooms is different, with the shape dictated by the building’s existing bones. They are decorated in a soft, cocooning palette: beiges, whites, limed oak furniture, pale travertine, with bronze and leather trims. Each has an equally massive bathroom with free standing baths, huge waterfall showers, big fluffy towels and an abundance of COMO Shamballa bathroom amenities.
Wildflower, the hotel’s destination restaurant, located in the rooftop space, surrounded by glass serves contemporary local Australian cuisine against a backdrop of sweeping views over the Swan River. Post, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, is a convivial spot serving modern Australian cuisine with a French influence, as well as healthful COMO Shambhala Cuisine. Within the hotel complex there are a number of bars and restaurants to choose from along with selected boutiques and shops.
Those looking for the ultimate in pampering should head to Shambhala, the Hotel's day spa where you can enjoy massages, body wraps and reflexology before relaxing in the hotels 20 metre heated indoor pool.
This hotel is a truly sensational addition to the developing hotel scene in Perth and finally brings true luxury to the city. A perfect place to unwind after a long flight before heading further afield to explore the delights of Western Australia.
