- Jackalope, Mornington Peninsula
Jackalope, Mornington Peninsula
Located on its own boutique vineyard, surrounded by rolling countryside, Jackalope is a sophisticated design hotel, set in a beautiful rustic setting half way down the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Its hilltop position offers breath-taking views across the vines, best enjoyed with a chilled glass of Chardonnay on the terrace. Jackalope is a country escape with an urban edge, contrasting farmhouse vibes with modern black-and-gold statement furnishings, the result – a truly unique stylish retreat. A black sculpture of a mythical North American animal – a jackrabbit with antelope horns, from which the hotel is named, greets guests as they approach. A black-tiled infinity pool and small spa offer a serene space for relaxation after a day exploring the wineries, artisan food producers, beaches and hot-springs of the Mornington Peninsula.

The spacious rooms are equally stylish, but with a more relaxed feel, each with outside space and finished with ivory, black and grey tones. The rooms, some with and some without baths, all boast floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the views. We’d recommend the Vineyard View rooms, or for extra space upgrade to the Signature Suites, referred to as Lairs, with loft ceilings and generous open plan living space complete with a double-sided indoor/outdoor fire place.
Foodies will love it here as local farm-to-table small plate dining takes centre stage here. Rare Hare makes the most of the exquisite setting with indoor and outdoor dining, overlooking the vines. Doot Doot Doot offers four or an eight-course degustation menu presented in an all-black dining room lit by ten thousand light bulbs, an installation by a local Melbourne artist.
