Broome, The Kimberley and Coral Coast

From Broome's magnificent Cable Beach and the dramatic Kimberley coastline to the wild and rugged El Questro and the unique formations of the Bungle Bungles, Western Australia's Kimberley region is truly magical.

There are several wonderful retreats including the delightful McAlpine House in Broome, the magnificent El Questro Homestead and the Bush Camp at Faraway Bay which sits in splendid isolation on a remote and beautiful stretch of coastline. A cruise is also a wonderful way to explore this undiscovered part of Australia.

Located off the west coast of Australia, 1,200km north of Perth, the Ningaloo Reef is Australia's largest fringing coral reef. This World Heritage listed reef is famous for its yearly visit by the slow-moving filter-feeding whale sharks (between April and July) – Turquoise highly recommend swimming with these beautiful and gentle creatures! Between July and October Ningaloo Reef also becomes a whale 'super highway' as thousands of humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to the Kimberley. The reef is also part of the migratory routes for dolphins, dugongs, and manta rays. Not only is the marine life abundant the white sand dunes, brilliant snorkelling and wildlife all contribute to this amazing area of Australia.

This fascinating corner of the country is best visited between April and October.
