Seavana Resort, Koh Mak

This tiny resort boasts just 22 rustic rooms, arranged in two rows behind a stunning stretch of white sand beach and calm turquoise waters. Our top recommendation would be the beachfront Seavana Suite, adorned with colorful Thai furnishings and featuring an upstairs roof terrace where you can sit and enjoy unobstructed views of the sea. Superior Rooms are located on the ground floor of the second row, offering sea views, while Jacuzzi Balcony Rooms on the upper floors come with the added luxury of a rooftop terrace overlooking the sea. Deluxe Beachfront Rooms are nestled just behind the beach, offering spacious outside decks for relaxation.

Beautiful tropical gardens and a pool, along with a charming restaurant and café/cocktail bar and the friendliest of staff are what made this resort special to us. It is not uber luxurious in any sense of the word, but it is a true gem for those seeking an intimate off the beaten track hideaway. 

Beyond the resort visitors to Koh Mak tend to hire a scooter of bicycle or local taxi to discover the island. Untouched secret beaches, cafes and restaurants are scattered through the island, the main hub in the centre of the island, called ‘Walking Street’ by the locals, has one pharmacy, one ATM, a couple of bars, boutiques and restaurants and is a lovely area to stroll along in the day or evening – no late nights here!
