Tucked away on the unspoilt south coast of the island of Negros, Atmosphere Resort & Spa is a charming boutique retreat set within an old seven-acre coconut plantation. English owners, Gabrielle and Matthew Holder fell in love with the enchanting underwater world off the coast and decided to create a home away from home, where guests could stay in comfort, relax and be pampered to their hearts content. With a huge emphasis on friendly service and immersive encounters, the Atmosphere team will create wonderful experiences for their guests to explore the impressive marine life of the region, as well as discovering the authentic culture and unspoilt scenery of the island.
Atmosphere is a small four-star hotel catering for a maximum of 90 guests. Simple rooms have all the home comforts you could need for a relaxing stay, from crisp Egyptian cotton linens, soft fluffy white towels, eco friendly cosmetics and rain showers. Room are in single or double storey thatched buildings scattered amongst the beautiful tropical gardens. Deluxe Suite Rooms overlook the gardens and spa with an outside shower, Large Garden Apartments offer the luxury of a spacious lounge, veranda and indoor/outdoor bathroom. Six new Premium Suites have added luxuries for extra comfort, including spacious living areas and an outdoor terrace. Family Suites have room for a double and a twin set up and the luxurious Penthouses offer two separate bedrooms, with a living space and kitchen.
Atmosphere has a reputation locally as one of the best dining options on the island. Guests can choose from different menus offering a range of local, international and healthy living choices throughout the resort. Choose from beachside fine dining at Blue Restaurant with views of the ocean as well as the chefs at work through the glass walled kitchen, Poolside Bar also offers candle-lit dinners and The Treehouse locates an elevated position by the sea with special dinners for up to five couples – utterly romantic.
Guests can fly to Dumaguete from Cebu or Manilla, or take a ferry from nearby Bohol, making it easy to combine a stay with other islands of the Philippines. Many of Atmosphere’s guests stay here for the incredible snorkelling and scuba diving. The world-renowned Apo Island, with its walls, stunning coral and schooling fish is a short boat ride away and the house reef is equally as impressive. Hopping over to Oslob, in Cebu, by ferry is also an option from here for those who wish to swim with the magnificent Whale Sharks. However non-divers are equally welcome and there is plenty to do in and around the island. Nearby Dumaguete City is well worth a visit, as is the small mountain town of Valencia, just 30 minutes away. Whilst there visit a fruit farm, take a peak in a local home that has a collection of WW2 memorabilia and finish with a visit to the hot springs and Pulang Bato waterfall. Balanan Lake is surrounded by spectacular mountain ranges and guests can enjoy fishing, kayaking, boating and hiking around the water’s edge. Those seeking adventure can add in mountain biking, quad biking or even a ziplining to any of the excursions to Valencia. If that all sounds too much, the award-winning Sanctuary Spa offers variety of treatments such as massages, facials, specific detox spa therapies and full detox programs, yoga, meditation and life coaching.
Atmosphere is also a very family friendly resort with a kid’s cove, kids pools, PADI Bubble Makers Dive Courses as well as kid’s yoga and a spa menu.
