The Andaman, Langkawi
The Andaman has long been a favourite, a resort that ticks so many boxes when it comes to luxury facilities, charm and exceptional service – read any reviews and you’ll see that the friendly staff are one of the best aspects of this hotel. Not only is the hotel itself absolutely beautiful, but the location and surrounding area are incredible as well. On one side is a pristine private beach, with beautiful white sand and clear blue water. On the other side is a 10 million year old rainforest, complete with exotic animals and flora everywhere.
Accommodation is set over four floors with up to 178 rooms and suites, all luxuriously furnished in a contemporary Malaysian style. Taking advantage of its amazing location, each room offers a view either of the Andaman Sea or the rainforest. Spacious rooms are with dark wood, local timber, and rich teak furniture, living space for sofas and all come complete with fluffy robe and slippers. Deluxe Rooms have either Rainforest or treetop views with a step out balcony, larger Luxury Room are the same size but boast either Sea Views, a large outside garden terrace (on the ground floor) or an outside terrace with a swim out access to a communal pool on the ground floor of one of the accommodation wings. Jacuzzi Studios have the same room layout but a large outside deck comes complete with Jacuzzi bath. For those seeking more space, the Executive Suites boast a separate living space and come with either rainforest, sea views – or for the ultimate a plunge pool on the outside deck – our favorite! Take a virtual tour of the resort here.
The resort itself is spread over a large area, offering 6 dining options, an amazing winding rainforest themed pool, a high quality spa, and all sorts of natural attractions on the beach and rainforest. Sufficient to say you won’t be bored while staying at the resort! There is the state of the art 24 hour “V Fitness” gym, if you prefer to get your exercise in the sun, you can rent a kayak, paddle board, or wind surf board at the hotel’s Water Sports Center. Golfers can book a round at the Els Club Teluk Datai course, a beautiful course designed by famous golfer Ernie Els. And if you have children, there is a “Young Explorer’s Club”, which offers educational excursions so they can learn about the nearby rainforest and coral conservation.
The hotel has several nature tours each day open to all the guests. There is a complimentary “Rainforest Awakening” tour each morning (or after dark), where an experienced naturalist takes you on an hour walk around the rainforest next to the hotel. On the ocean side, the hotel has several programs involving coral conservation, including their own coral nursery experience, marine laboratory, and reef walks.
