Nam Kat Yorla Pa

Located in a protected forestry area along the Nam Kat River in Oudomxay province, this rustic, but charming retreat is a wonderful place to base yourself for a few days exploring this magnificent corner of North-Eastern Laos. Surrounded by verdant, mountainous landscapes and Kamu Hill-tribe villages, there is plenty to explore here. Trek through the jungle, stopping off for a refreshing waterfall swim, encounter authentic local village life and for those who are adventurous, you can even try zip-lining or quad biking. Back on site, guests can unwind in the spa or relax by the pool and indulge in local Laotian delicacies in the restaurant.

Built on the edge of the flowing river, you’ll enjoy the tranquil flow of the water from each of the 31 rooms and villas. Deluxe Rooms offer a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and gardens, and larger Executive Rooms have a large living space and private balcony, however we recommend the Pool Villas which boast a spacious private garden, pool and gazebo.

The journey here used to be five hours by windy road, however with the opening of the train from Luang Prabang to Oudomxay, this has been reduced to an hour’s scenic journey through spectacular mountain scenery. We’d suggest taking the train north but journeying back to Luang Prabang by road and private boat, stopping off in Nong Khiaw for a night and continuing your journey by kayak down the Nam Ou River – a truly memorable journey. If you are coming from Thailand, along the upper Mekong, you can also drive here from Pakbeng after your first day’s journey. The drive is four hours.
