Morukuru Beach Lodge

Morukuru Beach Lodge offers intimate luxury accommodation in a spectacular coastal setting, with just five spacious en-suite suites designed for comfort and privacy. Guests can choose between two Ocean View Suites, two Ocean View Family Suites, and a secluded Honeymoon Suite, accommodating up to 10 adults and 4 children in total. Each suite features king-size beds that can convert to twins, oversized bay-window daybeds, private balconies or terraces, and elegant bathrooms with walk-in rain showers, separate bathtubs, and double vanities. The Ocean View suites enjoy panoramic Indian Ocean views, while the Honeymoon Suite includes a large private deck with an outdoor bathtub and partial sea views, creating a romantic retreat surrounded by fynbos dunes.

Dining at Morukuru Beach Lodge is centred around fresh, locally sourced cuisine and relaxed coastal hospitality. Guests enjoy all-inclusive meals served in the lodge’s elegant indoor dining room, which overlooks the white dunes, fire pit, and Indian Ocean, as well as in sheltered outdoor courtyard spaces for al fresco lunches. The lodge offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and a selection of beverages, with menus inspired by seasonal South African flavours and regional wines. Guests can also request private picnic baskets for beach or fynbos outings, while special children’s dinners and tailored dietary requirements can be accommodated on request.

Morukuru Beach Lodge offers a wide range of nature-based activities and wellness experiences designed to immerse guests in the beauty of the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Guided marine walks at low tide reveal fascinating rock-pool ecosystems filled with octopus, sea anemones, and other marine life, while snorkelling in protected tidal pools provides a refreshing coastal adventure. Guests can also enjoy guided fynbos walks and hikes through one of the world’s richest floral kingdoms, mountain biking trails, birdwatching, nature drives to spot wildlife such as bontebok and Cape mountain zebra, and exhilarating sandboarding on the reserve’s white dunes. Between July and November, the lodge is also renowned for exceptional land-based whale watching directly from the suites or rooftop terrace. Two guided activities daily are included in guests’ stays, with equipment such as snorkels, wetsuits, mountain bikes, and sandboards provided by the lodge.

For relaxation and wellness, the lodge features a tranquil swimming pool, hot tub, rooftop terrace, firepit lounge, and peaceful oceanfront spaces perfect for yoga, reading, or simply unwinding in nature. Guests can also enjoy in-suite spa and wellness treatments, allowing for massages and therapies in the privacy and comfort of their suite while listening to the sounds of the ocean and surrounding fynbos.
