Located in one of the most exciting wildlife sanctuaries in Africa , Saruni Mara is an eco-friendly and community-friendly, deluxe safari lodge in the Maasai Mara. Exclusive safaris, world class wildlife and authentic Maasai culture await you.
Saruni Mara is the smallest permanent lodge in the Maasai Mara with just six cottages and a private villa.
Here in the Mara North Conservancy there are very few tourists so you experience a very personal, authentic and special safari. A small and special lodge with far reaching views over the plains below, this is a perfect choice for honeymoons and family safaris.
The six cottages are all themed differently and the property is beautifully designed showcasing a real “Out of Africa” style. The thatched cottages offer you all the comforts that you need and have beautiful bathrooms where you shower overlooking the plains below you. Relaxing on your veranda and absorbing the stunning views below is spectacular.
For families or friends this lodge offers great flexibility, there is a family suite of two bedrooms, two bathrooms with a lounge and dining area. For a more private stay you can stay in Nyati House which is a ten minute walk away from the main lodge and is a private two bedroom, two bathroom villa with a large lounge and dining area. Staying here you can eat in the privacy of your own villa if you wish and have a private driver allowing for a very intimate stay.
Bush breakfasts, sumptuous lunches and dinners – you are spoilt at Saruni Mara! You have your lunches and dinners around a huge antique table with the managers and other guests so its very sociable (private dining can be catered for). A highlight of your day will always be the sundowners in stunning locations and a bush dinner one night with the Maasai warriors dancing around the fire is an unforgettable experience
Mara North game viewing is incredible. Staying in the heart of one of Africa’s most fascinating wildlife eco-systems, you can expect to enjoy some wonderful photographic opportunities from the comfort of your room as elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks and impalas traverse freely and peacefully on the grounds of the camp. There is even a tame eland that was orphaned as a baby and raised by cattle, who lives in the camp and regularly wanders through inquisitively, munching on the lawns and greeting the new guests! Game viewing in the Mara is incredible all year round and the conservancy has large numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe and plains game. The migration is in the area from July – October each year.
The icing on the cake here is the guiding – Maasai warriors show you their ancient lands and you additionally learn all about their culture, history and traditions. In open sided land rovers you explore the area at your leisure!
