Ben’s biggest challenge did not come with sea views and barefoot beach runs, but with one of the most demanding endurance tests on the planet: the Lewa Marathon in Kenya.
Held in the stunning yet untamed Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, running through thick bushland at an altitude of over 5,000 feet, participants share the route with giraffes, gazelles, and even buffalos. Despite the terrain, altitude, and a deep sense of “what on earth have I signed up for,” Ben finished the marathon in an impressive 4 hours and 50 minutes. With views of rolling hills, wide-open plains and animals everywhere it is an incredible, beautiful and rewarding marathon location and a bucket-list challenge for any keen runner.
What stood out most about Ben’s race wasn’t just the time he posted, but the raw, wild beauty he got to experience every step of the way—and how that translated into a one-of-a-kind Strava entry.
