When to go to Fiji

Traditionally, Fiji’s peak season for hot, warm weather without rain, is our summer – June – August but clever planning, gets you the best of the weather without the peak prices. Another great time to go is in our spring or winter – April to May or November – you’ll still get fantastic weather and you’ll benefit from some fabulous out-of-season deals at the island resorts.

For the best low season air fares- we recommend flying via Los Angeles (about 11.5 hours), why not give yourself some extra legroom and opt for Air New Zealand’s Premium Economy service (one of the best in the business). Turquoise would highly recommend spending a night or two in LA to make sure you’re refreshed and ready for the hop down to Fiji – this leg is with Fiji’s proud national carrier, Fiji Airways.

Spectacular Island Hopping

Although you will arrive on the main island of Viti Levu (where the international airport is) we highly recommend heading straight to the smaller outer islands where you will see the real Fiji and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

If you’re a water-lover, take a round-the-islands water taxi from Denarau Marina and enjoy the scenic island stops enroute to your chosen island. This gives you a chance to settle into Fiji time OR better still, choose an island where you can arrive by helicopter! Our top pick is Tokoriki in the Mamanuca island group, where you really will feel like a King and Queen as you land on Tokoriki’s heli-pad . For ultimate luxury opt for a beachfront bure just a few steps from the gin clear ocean.

Yasawa Island Resort

Yasawa Island Resort, in the northern Yasawa archipelago, offers an amazing stay 7, only pay 5 deal  …..and what’s more, all meals, non-alcoholic drinks and even a visit to the Blue Lagoon Caves are included …as is a hammock in front of your bure – what more could you need? Most famous for its powdery white sands, there are 11 deserted beaches to choose from and explore. For those who like to experience the local culture, there are 6 villages on the island which you can visit. Ocean fresh fish is order of the day at Yasawa, with local fishermen bringing their daily catch straight onto the beach just in time for dinner!
