As you can imagine, we at Turquoise have been following the speculation on Royal Honeymoon destinations with some fervor these past few weeks! We even did our own post about it a while back before the guesses really ran rampant. We have many destinations we think would be just perfect for the new royals and aren’t afraid to say so, but today we’re going to focus on the latest rumour. Just the other day, the Mirror reported that one of the new options being considered is Lizard Island, Australia’s northernmost island resort.

Lizard Island is unquestionably one of Australia’s most exclusive beach resorts and one of the finest places to visit in the world. With 24 powder soft sand beaches and neutral accommodation designed to match, this secluded resort would be perfect for a royal couple doing their best to get out of the spotlight. We know they want to feel normal while still being treated to the very best and there are few other places in the world which can offer such luxury!

Naturally, we’d see William and Kate staying at the Pavilion, Lizard Island’s most exclusive choice, which offers the best value for privacy and indulgence. The Pavilion has its own plunge pool, expansive sundeck, and a private path leading off to a secluded spot with chairs, a table, and an amazing view. Guests staying at the Pavilion are treated to champagne on arrival and high powered binoculars, all the better to enjoy the view and the honeymoon. All of the villas at Lizard Isaland are stunning, however, with their own decks and incredible views whether on the beach or not. Children under 12 years are not catered for, which means all guests have the opportunity to relax without temper tantrums coming from the beach.

For the adventure-loving Wills and Kate (they did get engaged in Kenya, home of the safari) we anticipate a climb up to the island’s peak, ‘Cook’s Look’. This is named after the famous Captain Cook because he climbed there in 1770 to chart a course to sea through the reefs – you can see precisely what he saw, albeit without your life at risk! Lizard is also ideal for other sea adventures, as it is set right on the Great Barrier Reef, just a 50 minute boat ride away from the world famous ‘Cod Hole’ dive site. Glass bottom boat trips, catamaran sailing, snorkelling, and diving are all available at Lizard Island. The Azure Spa on the island also offers a large number of revitalising treatments, perfect after all of the stress of the Royal Wedding!

Do you think Lizard Island is a likely honeymoon destination for the future king and queen of England? We can’t wait to find out where they actually go!
