I have just returned from the most fantastic honeymoon a girl could wish for! Although traditionally the honeymoon is the groom’s responsibility to arrange, I took the lead role in planning ours, so my other half got off very lightly!

Like most couples, our holiday preferences don’t match exactly… I am happy to sit on a beach and soak up the sun for days on end, whereas hubby is happier when there is something to do, so we decided on a multi centre honeymoon to keep us both happy… compromise is the name of the game after all!

After much deliberation we decided to visit North Thailand followed by the Maldives. Thailand was full of amazing experiences…… at Anantara Golden Triangle we did a half day Mahout course that was fantastic – you get so close to the elephants and you really do feel like you learn something! The scenery in this part of the country is absolutely stunning….. it is where Thailand borders Laos and Burma. There are rivers, forests and paddy fields aplenty, so you can sit by the gorgeous infinity pool and take in the beautiful surroundings. We also visited Chiang Mai for a more lively city experience and it was excellent. We bartered hard in the night markets, rode tuktuks around the city and did a superb cookery course. We learnt to cook 10 different dishes that we have since recreated at home and it really was one of the best things that we did while we were away! To sum up…. Thailand is a beautiful country with some of the friendliest people you could ever wish to meet and some of the best food you could ever wish to eat!

Our stay in the Maldives was much needed after a busy 6 days in Thailand, and we really did just fly and flop! The Maldives itself is completely breathtaking and I am sure that all of the islands are as beautiful as each other, but we chose to stay at Huvafen Fushi and it was absolutely stunning! We were treated like friends from the moment we arrived and didn’t ever want to leave! The island is beautiful, the rooms amazing… all with private pools and your very own Thakuru who looks after you for your stay. Nothing is too much trouble. We experienced the underwater spa during the day and went down again at night with the marine biologist, which was amazing and really interesting. We really had an unforgettable time here and would love to return one day very soon!

If you are looking for a twin centre honeymoon to keep you both happy, i would certainly recommend this as an option. We had a fantastic time and wouldn’t have changed any of it. We just wish that we could go back and do the whole thing again,…. it goes far too quick!
