Nukubati Island

BEAUTIFUL ECO-CONSCIOUS SECLUSION IN FIJI

Latitude 16°27’S Longitude 179°01’E

WHERE?

Amid the crystalline waters of the Great Sea Reef, just off the north coast of Vanua Levu, the second largest Fijian island.

WHY IS IT UNIQUE?

This hidden gem enjoys a beautifully unspoiled location (there are no other resorts nearby) and is the most environmentally conscious resort in the South Pacific. It produces most of its own electricity through wind and solar power, fresh water is rainwater that’s been filtered and UV treated, all vegetables and fruits are organic and grown using tropical permaculture techniques in ‘own brand’ compost. The genuinely warm staff – who thrive on helping and are never short of a smile or useful advice – offer traditional South Pacific cuisine, including freshly caught seafood, which can be burnt off with fantastic scuba-diving, tennis among the coconut trees and snorkelling on the Great Sea Reef, which is the third largest in the world. A visit to the nearby black pearl farm is a must.

BEST TIME TO GO?

From May to October, when there’s less humidity and fewer tropical showers.

BEST ROOM IN THE HOUSE?

Probably bure 7, which is the furthest away from the central pavilion.
