It’s another working week done in lockdown and while that Friday feeling may have been dampened due to a lack of things to do during the coronavirus pandemic, it doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate the weekend arriving. There’s no better way to kick off the weekend than having a refreshing cocktail, especially one that transports yourself you to the sun-soaked shores of Mauritius.

We can’t think of many better places to enjoy a cocktail than the serene sands which front The St. Regis Mauritius Resort. To help bring you a bit closer to its beaches its bartenders have revealed the recipe for one of its favourite cocktails – the Negritta – so you can make it at home. Enjoy!

The Negritta

50ml Tequila
30ml Aperol
30ml fresh pineapple juice
15ml fresh lemon juice
15ml sugar syrup
10ml egg white
2ml orange bitter

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and shake well.
  2. Double strain the mixture and pour in an old-fashioned glass over ice.
  3. Finally, garnish with a fresh orange wheel, fresh mint sprig and edible flowers.
