Orient-Express is launching a series of new rail journeys which promise to take travellers deeper into the heart of Asia.

The Eastern & Oriental Express will operate a series of new three- and six-night rail voyages to new destinations through Thailand, Malaysia, Laos and Singapore from November with the train limited to 60 guests.

Each itinerary has been specially designed to offer a unique, enriching and in-depth travel experience by taking guests through the fascinating countries discovering new locations.
Guests onboard the train for these new voyages – will experience excursions, overnight off-train experiences and guest lectures onboard, as well as a selection of wines during meals – all firsts for the train.  Guests will be accommodated in spacious State and Presidential cabins.

Prices for the new series of journeys start from £2,400 for the three-night Tales of Laos journey from Bangkok to northern Thailand and crossing the Friendship Bridge into Laos.

Orient-Express’ commercial director for Asia, Jean-Christophe Moreaux, has been in the UK this week meeting agents and operators for an update on the company.

“For the past five years, Orient-Express has been slowly and quietly building up our portfolio in the region and now it is time to shout a lot louder that we are there and what we have to offer,” he said.

Orient Express’ Asia portfolio includes La Residence d’Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia; La Residence Phou Vao in Luang Prabang, Laos; Ubud Hanging Gardens and Jimbaran Puri Bali in Indonesia; The Governor’s Residence in Yangon, Burma; and Napasai in Koh Samui, as well as the Road to Mandalay river cruiser in Burma and the Eastern & Oriental Express.
