Luxury Indonesia Holidays
Indonesia stretches across thousands of islands, bringing together an extraordinary mix of cultures, religions, landscapes and wildlife. Bali remains the best-known, with volcanic scenery, temple-studded landscapes, rice terraces and a deeply rooted Hindu culture that shapes everyday life. But it is only one part of the story.
Neighbouring Lombok brings waterfalls, quiet beaches and the white-sand Gili Islands, while Java is home to the great Buddhist monument of Borobudur. Further east, Komodo combines dramatic islands, exceptional diving and its famous dragons, while remote Sumba offers wild coastlines, distinctive traditions and beautifully secluded places to stay. In Kalimantan, rainforest journeys reveal another side of Indonesia altogether, with opportunities to see orangutans in the wild.
The joy of Indonesia lies in combining two or three very different places, allowing each stop to reveal another culture, landscape and rhythm within one endlessly varied archipelago. It is a country that rewards curiosity, with every island adding something new.

View ItineraryBest time to visit Indonesia
Indonesia is warm year-round, with regional variations across its vast archipelago. In much of the country, including Bali and Java, the drier season generally runs from April to October, while November to March is wetter.
May, June and September are particularly appealing for Bali, Lombok and Sumba, combining sunshine with fewer peak-season crowds. Komodo is also excellent through much of the dry season for diving and island exploration. Higher areas such as Ubud and the mountains are cooler, while rainfall patterns vary in Kalimantan and other more remote regions, so the best time to travel depends on the islands you plan to combine.

Indonesia highlights
Where to stay in Indonesia
A holiday to Indonesia promises tropical islands filled with adventure, downtime and culture. But where do you start? There are so many places to stay in Indonesia, we'd recommend island-hopping between a few. You could stay in a jungle hideaway in Bali, beach bolthole in Lombok or even a eco-friendly getaway in the Riau and Anambas Islands.
The Sira Lombok
Set on Sira Beach, one of the best you’ll find in Lombok, The Sira is a serene escape with stunning views of the Gili Islands in one direction and Mount Rinjani in the other. This beautiful resort’s design blends modern luxury with local Sasak style, incorporating beautiful fabrics, intricate wood carvings, and local stone for a relaxed, contemporary vibe that suits the island’s laid-back charm.
The Legian Seminyak, Indonesia,
The Legian Seminyak, Bali is a true icon. Since its opening in 1996, it’s remained a favourite among luxury travellers, thanks to its unbeatable location on one of Bali’s most stunning beaches. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, the hotel offers incredible sunset views over the Indian Ocean. Situated in the heart of Seminyak, The Legian feels like a peaceful escape, while still being just steps away from the area’s vibrant boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Whether you’re unwinding by the stunning two-tier infinity pool or exploring the lively Seminyak scene, this elegant retreat effortlessly blends relaxation with adventure.
Bawah Reserve
Barely visible on a map, Bawah Reserve is a true Robinson Crusoe Hideaway, an almost Maldivian style scattering of islands located somewhere in the middle of the South China Sea between Mainland Malaysia and the island...
Samanvaya, Sideman
Situated in the east of Bali, away from the busy coastal towns and the buzz of Ubud, Sideman is a wonderful alternative for those seeking nature, serenity and to experience authentic Balinese culture.
The Samaya Seminyak
Occasionally we find a resort that quite simply ticks all the boxes and Samaya Seminyak does just that – the location is spot on, right on the beach and close to restaurants and bars and the pool villas are stylish and spacious.
Kappa Senses, Ubud, Bali
Nestled amongst unspoiled jungle and verdant rice paddies, this secluded retreat is a wonderful balance of authentic Balinese style and luxury comforts. 76 wooden villas, two dreamy pools, several dining options and a blissful spa overlook a patchwork of verdant Balinese landscapes. While it’s located just ten minutes from Ubud town centre, Kappa Senses feels a world away from the stresses of daily life.
Sanak Retreat
Sanak is a luxurious retreat nestled right on top of farmed rice paddies, just 10 minutes from Munduk in the mountainous north of Bali, just 10 minutes from Munduk. This is a true eco retreat, built in harmony with its surrounds, supporting the local community, giving work to the people in the local village.
Sudamala Seraya
Sudamala is a charming rustic hideaway on Seraya Kecil Island, one of the northern most islands of the Komodo National Park. It’s just a 20-minute speedboat from Labuan Bajo before arriving in paradise – the beach here is pristine and picture perfect with crystal waters and vibrant underwater life for exceptional snorkelling straight off the shore. This is not polished luxury by any stretch of the imagination but is a blissful retreat for those who value escapism over gold taps.
Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay
Conveniently situated just 20 minutes from the airport, Four Seasons is ideally positioned at the end of the sandy shores of Jimbaran Bay, a charming beachside town renowned for its local fish restaurants and laid-back atmosphere. Cascading down the hillside, the resort comprises 147 stunning villas enveloped by beautifully landscaped gardens and impressive swimming pools. The seamless blend of volcanic stone architecture, thatched roofs, and traditional Balinese carvings captures the essence of a traditional Balinese village.
The Oberoi, Lombok
This beautiful resort is tucked away on a private beach at Medana Bay amongst acres of tropical gardens and the setting is, quite simply, beautiful. Pavilions and villas are strewn throughout the gardens; traditional in style with thatched roofs, highly polished teak and Indonesian objet d’art create an unmistakable, authentic ambience.
NIHI Sumba
Our little blue planet is heavily populated and it is rare to find a spot which offers real escapism in the truest sense of the word. On the remote island of Sumba, an hour’s flight east from Bali, we have found just such as a place – welcome to Nihi Sumba.
Plataran Borobudur
Within striking distance of Borobudur Temple, with fantastic views across to the temples and surrounding hills and forests, Plataran Borobudur is a gorgeous place to base yourself to explore this region. One and a half hours drive from Jogjakarta airport perched on the edge of of the hills of Tanjungan Village,
The Laguna, Nusa Dua, Bali
Situated in the upscale neighbourhood of Nusa Dua, The Laguna fronts one of southern Bali’s most stunning golden-sand beaches. Recently redesigned with a fresh nautical theme, and touches of Balinese style, we love it as an idyllic island-style resort hotel, perfect for those seeking a luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere.
Cap Karoso
A resort with an eco-conscious heart, Cap Karoso is the newest luxury retreat to open on the off-the-radar island of Sumba. Located an hour’s flight east of Bali and serviced by daily flights, the Island of Sumba is one of the rare places where local culture is preserved. The local Marapu religion follows a belief of a balance of nature, man and influence of ancestors.
Bisma Eight Ubud
This all-suite and super-stylish boutique resort is uber chic, funky and ideally located close to the centre of leafy Ubud. The unique design combines contemporary raw-concrete architecture with a rustic and local finish to create an urban retreat with a Balinese edge.
Komodo Island Cruise
One of the best ways to explore the spectacular Komodo Islands is by yacht. There is so much more to these islands than dragons - you’ll stop of on remote beaches, see contrasting landscapes, and snorkel on pristine reefs. We’d recommend at least three nights to see the best of the islands at a leisurely pace and most luxury yachts will insist on a minimum of three nights or more. We work with many different boat operators, catering to different budgets, and can also offer shared cabin cruises which is a wonderful way of exploring the islands, sharing your experiences with others.
MesaStila, Central Java
Located several hundred metres above the plains of Central Java, with a spectacular setting encircled by eight magnificent volcanoes and set within fifty-five acres of gardens, plantation and tropical jungle this retreat is truly special and a wonderful place to unwind at the start of your holiday to Indonesia. Basing yourself at Mesa Stila you are half way between the cities of Yogyakarta and Semarang (approx. 1.5 – 2 hours’ drive, both are accessible with a direct flight from Singapore) and are only one hour’s drive from the magnificent Borobudur temple, an easy day tour from here.
COMO Uma Ubud
One of our favourite Ubud retreats is COMO Uma Ubud, a rustically stylish escape. The hillside location makes for exceptional valley views and the signature spa is regarded as one of the best around.
The Oberoi, Bali
The Oberoi Beach Resort, Bali is a classic, one of the original luxury resorts in Bali and the first in Seminyak. When it opened in 1978, the Oberoi stood in isolation in the middle of verdant rice fields fronting a gorgeous long stretch of beach.

Beyond Bali
Bali may be the headline, but Indonesia stretches far beyond it. Journey from remote Sumba and Komodo’s dragon-filled islands to Java’s ancient temples and Kalimantan’s rainforests, discovering a completely different side of the archipelago.

What Our Travellers Say
“As enthusiastic retirees with a serious case of wanderlust, my wife and I now travel abroad at least four times a year. We'd been subscribed to The Turquoise Holiday Company mailing list for years, but it wasn't until we spotted a special offer for Thailand in November 2019 that we finally booked our first holiday with them.Interestingly, a few months earlier, while waiting for a flight to the Maldives in June 2019, we noticed another couple travelling with a Turquoise travel bag. At the time, we thought little of it, but looking back, it was perhaps an early sign that we were about to discover a travel company that would become our go-to specialist for luxury holidays. Our first experience with Turquoise was excellent and gave us the confidence to book a Maldives holiday for June 2020. Then, of course, COVID struck and brought the travel industry to a standstill. What impressed us most was the way Turquoise handled an incredibly difficult situation. Rather than leaving us in limbo, they worked tirelessly to rearrange our holiday multiple times, adapting to constantly changing restrictions and circumstances. Eventually, in November 2020, despite flying with a different airline and staying at a different hotel than originally planned, we were able to enjoy a much-needed Maldives escape when many other travel plans around the world had simply been cancelled altogether. That experience cemented our trust in The Turquoise Holiday Company. Since then, we have booked many holidays through them and now use them for the vast majority of our trips abroad. What consistently sets Turquoise apart is the quality of its people. Every member of staff we have dealt with has been knowledgeable, professional, friendly and exceptionally thorough. Their expertise, attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile give us complete confidence that every aspect of our holiday is being carefully managed. In an age where genuine customer service can be hard to find, The Turquoise Holiday Company continues to deliver it in abundance. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking for a travel agent that combines expert knowledge, outstanding customer care and absolute professionalism. They have played a major part in some of our most memorable travel experiences, and we look forward to booking many more adventures with them in the years ahead.”
“Right from first contact, Bethany & colleagues were great. Bethany adjusted the holiday offered several times to get it just how we wanted it, & it was everything she said it would be. We went to Coco Bodu Hithi & it was amazing, I thoroughly recommend it. Turquoise have a great app which was really useful & they were there for us all along the way, even sending me updates on flights. I recommend them 100%.”
“Everything was so efficient from our very first contact. We are not seasoned travellers so the support/help/advice we received from Lucy all the way through was so reassuring. Even the daftest question was never too much trouble. Looking forward to booking again for 2028 - we wouldn’t dream of looking forward alternative travel agents. Thank you so much 🥰”
“I am so thankful we used Turquoise Holidays! From start to finish they were exceptional. A shout out to Martha who designed and organised our honeymoon for us - she took the stress out of planning, understood the vision and put together our dream holiday. She was a pleasure to work with and it was beyond anything we could have imagined. I can’t tell you how relieved we were to have all of our transport and transfers sorted the other side. Especially for a trip like ours with lots of flights and travel, using Turquoise Holidays made it so much easier. We also used the concierge services to book activities and they were so helpful and kind. Will definitely use Turquoise again, I can’t wait for our next holiday!”
“Sophie was brilliant from start to finish. From the very first email she was professional but also had that friendly touch. Any amendments I wanted to our honeymoon plans she came back with the updated itinerary. Even after 5 iterations she was still incredible with the responses. I would highly recommend using turquoise travel and we will definitely be using them again”
“Amazing Family Holiday and just what we asked for! We wanted a resort and location that was approriate for small kids but had all the luxuries for adults, and Turquoise holidays provided a great service. Commincation was great and they took all the pain out of the small details and provided an excellent service and the value was outstanding!”
“Just got back from a fantastic Holiday in Mauritius with which I booked the Holiday with Turquoise Holidays. This is my first time I have booked with this company and I will have no hesitation in booking again, from start to finish the correspondence I had with Milly and the rest of the team at Turquoise as been outstanding. Thankyou Neil & Jane”
“Enjoyable trip to Canada.Jonty made excellent recommendations as always, hotels were great in every respect.Highly recommend Turquoise for their advice and insight into places and hotels at a very good price point. We have used many times in the past and will continue do use again in the future.”
“Mrs Stone organised all my flights details and extra help extremely well.”
“This was the best travel agent experience we have ever had. We went on a bespoke 5 week trip to Australia. Our agent, Stuart, designed a trip exactly matching our requirements and really listened to us when we described the brief. What came through strongly during the course of the trip was Turquoise’s ability to not just source the best properties/accommodation, but the best rooms in those properties. Likewise with the tours and activities that they organised — everything felt highly curated and considered. When any queries arose or we wanted to change the bugs, the team was super-responsive through the app. We will definitely use them again have recommended them to many friends.”
“We had a really good time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The blend of activity and adventures in Sri Lanka mixed with the relaxation and tranquility of the Maldives, worked extremely well and the itinerary put together by Turquoise was excellent.Overall we were very impressed with Sri Lanka and whilst hectic at times enjoyed our busy agenda. We found all the accommodation wonderful and food was plentiful and enjoyable. We were pleased to have climbed the two rocks to see the sunset/sunrise albeit a bit daunting when we realised the climbing challenge ahead.Special mention has to go to our driver/guide Mahesh who was excellent and really helped make our trip run smoothly. He was knowledgeable, practical and always prompt. In fact our only hiccup occurred when trying to leave the Notary House to fly to Male. We had booked a 4am alarm call, bags to be picked up at 4.20am and “breakfast to go” ready for 4.30am. Fortunately we had used our own phone alarms as we awoke to a completely silent hotel, no alarm call, no bags collected and no breakfast, and no driver. We did however just about hear a car hooting and on seeing some lights at the end of the long drive to the hotel set off and found Mahesh. However, the gates were padlocked shut and Mahesh was locked out and we were locked in! Fortunately Mahesh had a number for the hotel and after ringing several times, an apologetic staff member appeared and unlocked the gate and off we went. Phew !After making our plane we successfully arrived in Male and took the speedboat to Velassaru. We thought the island was impeccably well kept and had obviously been recently modernised in many areas. Our room - 205 - was perfectly positioned close to the Chill Bar, and ideal for drinking cocktails and watching the sunset, yet only a small walk from all other amenities including the buffet restaurant where we ate all our meals. We found the breakfast plentiful and varied but thought the offerings for dinner were less extensive than on other islands( maybe we were a bit spoilt at Six Senses last year ! ). We were also disappointed that given we were half board had we wished to use any of the other 3 à la carte restaurants for dinner then this was additionally chargeable albeit with a 30% discount. And yes, sadly the view from our villa of Thilafushi was certainly not ideal or romantic but overall we still agreed that Velassaru was a lovely island with everything you would expect from a trip to the Maldives.Overall we were very satisfied and would consider doing a similar trip again and definitely using Turquoise albeit I think we would allow for a longer journey from Male and take the seaplane even if that did eat into a bit more of our holiday time. Thanks again to Anthony for listening to our requirement and tailoring our trip to suit our needs.Steve ( and Cathy )”
“Always so helpful, professional and efficient, thank you once again!”
