Within striking distance of Borobudur Temple, with fantastic views across to the temples and surrounding hills and forests, Plataran Borobudur is a gorgeous place to base yourself to explore this region. One and a half hours drive from Jogjakarta airport perched on the edge of the hills of Tanjungan Village, Magean in Central Java, this boutique resort is built in harmony with its surrounds with a traditional Javanese style and a contemporary finish – the use of local timbers, authentic Javanese antiques and a warm friendly local welcome all create a sense of place.

The Villas themselves are all individual and spread over the hillside. The lead in Deluxe Wooden Villas are small and simple, intimate hideaways with double beds, and private gardens overlooking the Menoreh Hills. Step up to the Executive Suites for more than double the space, a slightly more contemporary finish, private pool and views of either the Menoreh Hills or Borobudur. Exclusive Suites have their own dining space and Royal Suites offer their own living space.
