Riviera Maya Holidays

The Riviera Maya extends along the Caribbean coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula offering high-end luxury resorts, fine dining, nightlife, spa retreats, shopping and golf. Home to some of the most stunningly beautiful beaches in all of Mexico, you can expect long stretches of powdery white sand lapped by the gin clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. Mexico holidays also offer so much more than just a beach with a wealth of activities and ancient sites to discover.

WHY TURQUOISE HOLIDAYS LIKES RIVIERA MAYA

I think the most wonderful thing about a Mexico holiday is meeting the people. Their fantastic smiles, charming personalities and huge pride in their country just made it for me!Catherine, Riviera Maya Specialist

WHEN TO GO ON HOLIDAY TO RIVIERA MAYA

Mexico weather can be similar to the Caribbean. Riviera Maya is a great place to visit any time of year but the months between December and April are the most popular times to holiday there. July to September are the wettest months but in the rainy season you’ll still get plenty of sunshine (anywhere between ten and seven hours each day), excellent offers and the resorts will not be as busy.

THINGS TO DO IN RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO

  • Visit Chichen Itza, the best example of Mayan architecture in the region. Clap your hands in front of the 1,100-year-old Temple of Kukulcan and it is said that the pyramid answers in the voice of the sacred quetzal bird.
  • Swim in a cenote, an all-natural freshwater pool. The highly porous limestone soil have given rise to a system of subterranean rivers and ponds in the area. Some cenotes are open air, some only partially and taking a cooling dip in crystal clear water surrounded by stalactites and lush vegetation is a magical experience.
  • Enjoy a Tequila & Ceviche tasting , a must for any Mexico holiday. Learn about the secrets and history of tequila, tasting different varieties from fresh to aged. The perfect accompaniment is a selection of ceviche, a traditional dish typically made from fresh raw fish cured in citrus juices, such as lemon or lime, and spiced with chili peppers.

Holidays to Riviera Maya

Aside from the idyllic beaches there is so much to do on a holiday to Riviera Maya. Head out for a spot of nightlife in nearby Playa Del Carmen or dinner in a fantastic local restuarant. Visit Xcaret Eco Park, a great place to discover the culture and nature of Mexico. Enjoy a round of golf through diverse landscapes of forest, jungle and beach at the Par 72, Greg Norman designed El Camaleon golf course. Lastly, no Mexico holiday is complete without a spot of shopping… you’ll find traditional ceramics and glassware, fine silver jewellery, colourful textiles and wonderful artwork.
