Spice Island Beach Resort, Grenada
Sitting on the gloriously beautiful Grand Anse Beach, 10 minutes from the capital St George, Spice Island Beach Resort is truly the grand-dame of the lush ‘spice island’ of Grenada. Family run and owned, Sir Royston and Lady Hopkin proudly manage their resort and friendly staff. The service is world-class, yet informal and ever so attentive. Guests are treated like family – and many repeat guests return year after year.
Spice Island Beach Resort
The resort is spread over eight acres of land and tropical landscaped gardens and features only 64 suites. Featuring Caribbean elegance combined with contemporary amenities, Spice Island is one of Grenada’s finest luxury resorts in a breathtaking beachfront location. 34 of the suites were recently completely rebuilt whilst 30 suites were fully refurbished. In-suite facilities include a private balcony or patio, air conditioning, ceiling fan, LCD television, DVD, iPod docking station/clock radio, telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities, a safe, luxurious en-suite bathroom with shower and bath, iron and ironing board. Other luxury amenities include crisp white fine Italian Frette linen, bathrobes, slippers and Molton Brown toiletries.
The Oleander Suites (Garden Suites) are tucked away in a two-storey building offering views of the surrounding gardens. The Sea Grape Beach Suites sit directly on the golden sandy beach and face the turquoise Caribbean Sea. These beachfront suites feature a spacious patio with private garden, chaise loungers and a lovely double hammock for lazy days under the Caribbean sky.
The most luxurious Spice Island experiences are the Royal Collection Pool Suites and the Cinnamon and Saffron Beach Suites. The Royal Collection Pool Suites boast a spacious, villa-like living within a luxury resort and feature a private garden, swimming pool, outdoor Cedar sauna, separate living room and a marble bathroom. The Cinnamon and Saffron Suites are located right on the beach and are ideal for families. These suites feature a separate living and dining room, master bedroom with a king-sized four-poster bed, two bathrooms and a spacious outdoor living area. A Special Services Coordinator is available to assist with any requests in these three suite categories.
Elegant Caribbean cuisine combining fresh local produce and spices with international dishes and a fabulous selection of wines are a trade-mark at the Spice Island Beach Resort. The fine dining Oliver’s Restaurant has a stunning beachside setting with authentic ambience offering four to five times a week live calypso, reggae or steel band music. The more informal Sea and Surf Terrace & Bar serves al fresco lunch and pre-dinner cocktails.
Other facilities include a Gatsby boutique, state-of-art Cybex gym, floodlit tennis court, complimentary use of bicycles and a central pool area. Green fees at the nine-hole Grenada Golf Club, all non-motorised watersport and Concierge Service are also offered complimentary. Please note that Spice Island is a non-smoking resort.
Janissa’s Spa features four treatment rooms with open-air rain showers and a Cedar sauna. This chic oasis of calm oozes local traditions and fragrances of nutmeg, ocean seaweed, aloe vera, orange and coconut.
For romantic couples and honeymooners, we highly recommend the Anthurium Pool Suites. The spacious suites feature a classic design with a contemporary twist and a private plunge pool on the terrace. The Luxury Almond Pool Suites offer the ultimate experience in privacy and elegance. These six suites feature a 16 X 20 foot residential size swimming pool, a gorgeous outdoor dining terrace, which is ideal for private romantic dinners, and a delightful four-poster bed.
Whilst parents rejuvenate in the Spa, the little ones are kept entertained at the Nutmeg Pod (complimentary) where children from 3 to 12 can have fun with organised activities in a supervised and safe environment.
