Jumby Bay Island

A 300-acre private island, Jumby Bay is located just two miles north of Antigua. The resort is only accessible by boat, making it one of the most desirable and exclusive private retreats in the Caribbean. An ancient coral reef first discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493 and claimed by the British in 1632, Jumby Bay Island takes its name from "jumbie," Antiguan colloquial for "playful spirit."

Sleep

Each of the 40 rooms and suites, as well as a collection of privately owned villas and estate homes, has an enchanting view of the Caribbean Sea and beautifully combines luxury with tropical elegance. You will find all of the amenities you would expect, such as fine Italian linens, iPod docking stations, a Bose sound system and Nespresso machines, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi.

Eat

With four restaurants and bars there is plenty of variety from casual dining at the Pool Grill & Bar to fine dining at the glamorous British Colonial-style Estate House, built circa-1830.  Recently restored, The Estate House includes a main restaurant as well as the 1830 Bar, three new private dining rooms and a wine room.  The menu combines classic dishes with modern island flavours... the Monkfish and black trumpet casserole is delicious!  We highly recommend taking part in a cooking class designed to introduce the art of Jumby Bay cuisine at The Verandah Kitchen. The program offers a hands-on experience where guests create restaurant specialities infused with island tastes. Later in the evening, class participants and their partners are invited to a private dinner where the chef prepares the demonstrated dishes for all to enjoy.

Play

Recreational activities include tennis, a variety of watersports and a well-equipped fitness centre as well as three miles of trails running throughout the island's tropical, level terrain. Every guest room, suite and villa comes with its own bicycles and weekly guided bike tours offer intriguing experiences from one point to the next. The bicycles even have speedometers so you can see how far you ride on island!

Pamper

The Spa at Jumby Bay offers five treatment rooms and inspiration for the treatments comes from indigenous natural elements such as sugar cane, molasses, spices and rum. There are 2 main pools on the island with attendants to see to your every need, from providing sunblock and the latest novels to read, to refreshing Jumby Bay amenities such as chilled towels, iced fruit and delicious homemade sorbet.
