September, like May, is one of our favourite months for long haul tailor-made holiday, as kids go back to school and prices fall making even the most indulgent holidays more affordable. While Kenya continues to be a great safari destination during September the dry weather in Botswana brings the animals to the watering holes making for great viewing. South Africa is enjoying the first weeks of Spring with dry weather and temperatures on the rise so the classic combo of Cape Town and Safari are hard to beat, although South Africa is also a dream when twinned with the Indian Ocean resorts in the Maldives, Mauritius or the Seychelles. Lesser known in Africa but equally beguiling is Zambia. The mighty Zambezi and Victoria Falls are just two of its attractions – South Luangwa is probably Southern Africa’s greatest national park.

The emerging east coast of Sri Lanka is still enjoying dry, sunny weather in September, so is perfect for a bespoke holiday.
