volcanic islands including Norman Island (thought to be the inspiration
for Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island), the British Virgin

are nothing more than rocky outcrops or spits of sand, with around

Peter Island.

visit. Although part of the same archipelago, the BVI have a very
different feel to the neighbouring US Virgin Islands and are quieter,
