If the idea of camping during your honeymoon does not appeal then I am guessing that you haven’t been to a luxury safari camp in Botswana… For couples who want to do a little more than simply sit on the beach during their honeymoon then what could be more romantic than having a little corner of Botswana’s pristine wilderness as the view from your private plunge pool on the deck outside your room?
The romance of a luxury suite is heightened when the walls are made from canvas and you can hear the distant sounds of the night from the comfort of your bed. Add to this the excitement of viewing the wonderful animals of Africa up close in their natural environment and perhaps you are beginning to see how a safari could complement a powder soft Indian Ocean beach for your honeymoon.
Exclusive candlelit dinners are just one of the deliciously romantic special treats that honeymooners can enjoy at some camps – a scrumptious meal enjoyed at night in total seclusion under the brightly lit stars, right in the heart of the African bush. Or how about a freshly drawn bath surrounded by rose petals and candles for you both to enjoy in the fresh air of one of natures greatest playgrounds?
Botswana is a land of wild beauty and stunning game reserves: from the subtropical wilderness of the Okavango Delta to Chobe National Park with its vast herds of elephant to the haunting, ethereal splendour of the Kalahari desert. Home to some of Africa''s most luxurious and intimate lodges with opulent honeymoon accommodation that''ll have you grasping for superlatives, Botswana is the by-word for southern Africa''s rawest, purest and most romantic wilderness.

Botswana has two distinct seasons – summer from October to April – and winter from May to September. Most of the rain falls during the hottest months between December and February (usually in the form of short, sharp thunderstorms) – whilst the dry season from April to November promises the best game viewing. The floodwaters usually reach the Okavango in and around May. |
