Veracruz, Mexico
Veracruz has so much to offer. It’s rich cultural diversity, coastal beauty, and maritime history make this region a captivating destination for intrepid travellers looking for an immersive and varied experience. Stretching across roughly 400 miles of Gulf of Mexico coastline, Veracruz was once the centre for military conflict which has created an overlap of food cultures the people of Veracruz have embraced to create their own cuisine, mainly renowned for its seafood dishes. The region’s offering doesn’t end there – soak up archaeological sites, beautiful beaches, vanilla bean farms, coffee plantations, or dance along to Son Jarocho…we all know La Bamba!

Best time to travel to Veracruz
Veracruz enjoys a tropical climate year-round where temperatures during the day hardly drop below 25oC. The dry season runs from December to April, and you’ll be greeted with near uninterrupted sunshine with the odd passing shower.
Towards the end of the dry season, around May, the humidity and temperature start to rise and between July and September temperatures of 30oC can be experienced. June to November is the official Caribbean hurricane season and while Veracruz dodges many of the hurricanes, storms (though rarely destructive) are not uncommon. The silver lining? Turtle nesting season is here, and you can witness these majestic creatures visiting the coastline to lay their eggs.
Where to stay in Veracruz
Hotel Azúcar, Tecolutla
A boutique adult-only hotel in the town of Tecolutla, Hotel Azúcar features a contemporary design combined with artisanal flair. Enjoy a great tropical beachside vibe with a side of wellbeing. Sat perfectly along the Emerald Coast, you will see rustic wooden flooring, thatched roofs, and authentically designed furniture offering a minimalist look. On its doorstep, miles of beach stretch out either side, and the Gulf of Mexico views welcome you with a soft sea breeze.
Explore, dream, discover and embrace ...
"Don't try to see beyond the horizon - often the richest experiences are those that you stumble upon because of where you are and who you're with. Explore, dream, discover and embrace each new experience as a life-changing memory."
