Impodimo Game Lodge, South Africa

Wonderfully positioned on a rocky ridge on the western edge of South Africa’s Madikwe Game Reserve, Impodimo is a little known gem of a safari lodge carved from the hillside with far reaching views. Its location at the source of a natural spring provides riverine serenity and it also overlooks a waterhole frequented by elephants and other wildlife. The Madikwe is one of the lesser known game reserves in South Africa with a rich, diverse topography, ranging from vast savannah grasslands to rocky outcrops and open woodlands and it is flanked in the south by the Dwarsberg Mountains. Its location close to the border with Botswana, where the dense bushveld meets the Kalahari, ensures a superb wildlife experience and what’s more, this area is malaria free, making it suitable for families and first-time safari goers. This is Big Five territory it is easily accessible from Johannesburg via a one hour scenic flight or a 4–5 hour drive.

Your safari refuge at Impodimo is one of eight spacious glass-fronted Suites. There is also one two-bedroomed Deluxe Suite suitable for a family. Each has a private deck with striking views of the reserve and all have been carefully positioned to ensure absolute privacy. The style here is affordable luxury, in warm tones which embrace the African bush setting. The Suites have air-conditioning and an ensuite bathroom with outdoor shower. The Deluxe Suite caters accommodates up to four guests in two ensuite bedrooms and has a relaxing living area, a private boma for dining under the stars and an outside deck with private plunge pool. It comes complete with the services of a private guide, tracker, chef and butler and you set the pace of your safari game drives. This takes the family safari experience to a whole new level!
