Chisa Busanga Camp

Chisa Busanga Camp sits on a small, tree-lined island in the heart of Zambia’s remote Busanga Plains, surrounded by open grasslands, seasonal floodplains and wildlife-rich dambos. Its secluded setting makes it a fantastic base for exploring one of Kafue’s most beautiful and untouched areas.

The camp’s design is what really makes it special. Chisa means ‘bird’s nest’ in Nyanja, and the unique tented rooms are inspired by the woven nests of the weaver birds found throughout the plains. Built to blend naturally into the landscape, the camp is completely solar-powered, creating a wonderfully low-impact safari experience without compromising on comfort.

It’s an intimate and incredibly atmospheric camp, where the landscape is very much part of the experience: from waking up surrounded by birdsong to heading out across the watery plains in search of wildlife.

The camp’s four unique Nests are inspired by the woven homes of Zambia’s weaver birds, with their organic, cocoon-like design blending naturally into the surrounding woodland. Raised above the ground, each Nest offers a private and immersive way to experience the Busanga Plains, with comfortable interiors, en-suite facilities and plenty of space to relax after a day on safari. The design is deliberately low-impact, using natural materials and solar power to keep the camp off-grid while still offering the comforts you’d expect from a luxury safari stay.
