Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort, Mauritius
Superbly poised between the foothills of the Plaine Champagne and the dreamy Indian Ocean in the south-west corner of Mauritius, Heritage Le Telfair sits on the site of the former sugar estate of Bel Ombre – one of Mauritius’ finest estates with a history that dates back over 200 years. This luxurious, yet inviting, retreat is a member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World portfolio.
A beautiful lagoon, lush tropical gardens, a pristine beach and the gentle flow of the Citronniers River all combine to provide a rare taste of paradise. Inspired by a colonial French sugar plantation, Le Telfair relives the peace, space and harmony of a more leisurely bygone age.
Heritage Le Telfair
Each of the 158 suites features highly polished wooden floors, ceiling fans and generously proportioned 19th century-style bathrooms. Soft, warm, muted tones enhance the timeless elegance whilst providing a fresh new, contemporary design still with Le Telfair's much loved and distinct colonial facade. For the ultimate indulgence, the Junior Suites and Ocean Suites boast wide four-poster beds enhanced by translucent linen drapery. Housed in twenty villas of six or eight suites each, Le Telfair’s exquisite accommodation is dotted amidst the tropical gardens, with wonderful French windows which spill out onto verandas with awe-inspiring sea or river views. Your butler is on call 24 hours and will happily arrange a romantic rose-petal bath with Champagne at your request!
The resort offers a diverse selection of dining options, including the charming Gin’ja which serves fresh seafood overlooking the ocean – and the 19th century elegantly restored Le Château de Bel Ombre manor house, where you can enjoy traditional Mauritian delight or gastronomic French cuisine. Annabella’s (the main restaurant), located at the heart of the resort, serves breakfast and dinner from its interactive show kitchen – guests and the kitchen brigade alike enjoy a wonderfully convivial atmosphere.
The ‘Timomo & Friends’ kids club welcomes potty trained children from 2 to 11 years. Fully supervised between the hours of 8.30am and 11.30pm, children are able to play and socialise with their new friends all day, enjoying activities such as crab hunting, fishing and making local musical instruments. Teenagers are also well catered for in the V.I. Teens club where they can play a variety of sports with their peers, as well as learn to mix music on the decks at a special C Beach Club workshop! Treasure hunts around the Domaine and campfires on the beach are also on the agenda!
Guests at Le Telfair enjoy complimentary green fees on the magnificent 18-hole championship golf course which was designed by Peter Matkovich. Other activities include a variety of complimentary watersports, not to mention the sprawling 3500 acres of the Bel Ombre Nature Reserve which can be explored on horseback, quad bike or by mountain bike. Following a day’s exhilaration, you can relax and be pampered in the award-winning ('Best Luxury Spa Group 2014' at the World Luxury Hotel & Spa Awards) Seven Colours Spa! Designed as a sanctuary, the spa is a haven of peace where fountains and streams flow in the midst of tropical gardens.
For true indulgence, Le Telfair offers a unique wellness bliss experience. For an additional cost, choose each day from a selection of massages, Yoga, Tai-Chi, Pilates, health treatments or private fitness sessions. Ask your travel specialist for more details.

Best room for honeymooners
With each room offering a light and beautiful space to relax and enjoy the quietness of the hotel we think all rooms are great.
However, the Junior Suites are a little more special and perfect for honeymooners as they have a beautiful four-poster bed with translucent linen drapes creating a romantic and feel to the suite. Enjoy extra benefits you get when you book a suite like having your own dedicated butler, an i-pod docking station and a private VIP corner at C Beach Club. We also recommend you go for a sea view room or suite too and wake up to the view of the stunning ocean and beach in front of you!
We could say kick off your flip flops and relax on the beach all honeymoon but then you would miss many amazing experiences.
Being located on the gorgeous site of Bel Ombre there are many activities and things to do in and around the hotel. For something a little more romantic we recommend a trip out to Frederica Nature Reserve where you can explore on bikes or foot and find waterfalls and romantic scenic spots – the perfect photo opportunity.
Head to their Seven Colours Spa and enjoy a couples spa suite experience to really relax and unwind

Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort is one of our favourite family hotels in Mauritius, and here is why:
If you are looking for an exotic destination without the jetlag, a relaxed yet luxurious hotel full of charm and a balance of activity and relaxation for the whole family Le Telfair is definitely for you. Regardless of the ages of the children there is something to keep them amused, family time is a luxury most of us don’t get enough of and the white sand beach, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean and large swimming pools give you every opportunity to make the most of your precious time together.
One of the huge benefits of Le Telfair over the other resorts on the island is their children’s facilities start from age 0 to teenagers. The activities are based on age group, from babies, younger children and teenagers there is something to appeal to everyone. For anyone with babies and toddlers it’s the only hotel on the island to have a baby club that accepts children of any age without charge. The baby and toddler club is perfectly equipped with toys, plenty of outside space for the kiddies to run around safely and a small pool with child sized sun loungers! For the babies it’s the ideal place for little ones to escape the heat and play in the shaded areas or have a nap in the full sized cots in the sleeping room.
For older children the kids and teens club provide amusement in so many different ways and offers a place for them to hang out and meet new friends. The activities run during the day and evening and include everything from games on the beach, table tennis, computer games or Quad biking in the Nature Reserve. It’s a great space to let them have their own little bit of independence and happy children mean happy, relaxed parents!
Meal times can be a bit stressful with children but Annabella’s caters for the entire family. They offer a la carte dining for the parents and a buffet for the children or for those children who are a little more adventurous, children can also have a smaller portion from the a la carte menu. For the really young pureed food can be arranged either in the restaurants or to be delivered to your room at a time of your choice, nothing is too much trouble. We would also recommend visiting Le Chateau for a more romantic meal, set in the most beautiful grounds, the 19th Century chateau is elegant and offers fine dining with much of the food coming from the local estate. It’s the perfect place for a child free evening but if you don’t want to leave your little ones behind they are also welcome.
