First impressions
OKU’s signature boho-minimalist style is unmistakable. Think soft, earthy tones, natural textures and clean lines, all woven together in a way that feels both considered and calming. Although the hotel is a reimagining of a previous property, it feels completely fresh… light-filled, beautifully styled and very much in keeping with the OKU brand. Even wandering through the grounds, there’s a sense that every detail has been thought through. It’s the kind of place where you immediately slow down.
Rooms to retreat to
The rooms are just as inviting. Soft, neutral palettes, tactile finishes and a real sense of space make them feel like somewhere you want to linger.
For me, the sea view rooms are a must, not just for the view, but for the light. When the sun pours in, the whole space comes alive. If you can, go for a south-facing room to make the most of those long, golden days. If you’re looking for a little more space, the Roof Terrace Sea View rooms offer generous outdoor living, perfect for slow mornings or sunset drinks. The suites step things up further, with separate living areas and, in some cases, private pools. And for families or groups, the two-bedroom suites are seriously spacious, with plenty of room to spread out.
Poolside living
The main pool area is centred around three pools, with a separate toddler pool tucked to the side, making it a great option for families. There’s a laid-back energy here, with soft music drifting through the air and plenty of space to settle in for the day. Then there’s the beach club… set to bring a more grown-up, Ibiza-style vibe with live music and an adults-only pool. It’s the perfect contrast to the more relaxed main pool scene.
By the sea
The beach itself stretches on for miles, ideal for long walks along the shoreline, where you can often spot dolphins out in the water. The sand may not be powder-white, but the setting more than makes up for it.
Dining that delivers
Food is a real highlight here. Each restaurant has its own personality and the quality throughout is exceptional. Breakfast at The Terrace is a perfect start to the day, while evenings here lean towards Italian favourites. To Kima offers a more relaxed, Mediterranean feel, ideal for long, leisurely lunches. Bodega brings Spanish tapas into the mix, full of flavour and atmosphere. And then there’s Teyo — the Japanese restaurant — which was, quite simply, outstanding.
For families
If you’re travelling with children, the kids’ club is genuinely one of the best I’ve seen. It blends beautifully with the hotel’s aesthetic while still feeling like an adventure playground in its own right. There’s a fantastic outdoor area with wooden play structures, a pirate ship, small pools and slides, plus expansive garden space to run around. Indoors, it’s just as impressive, with dedicated rooms for everything from climbing and creative play to theatre and cooking. It’s thoughtfully designed, brilliantly equipped and feels like a real highlight of the hotel.
Beyond the hotel
While OKU Andalusia is perfect for switching off, it also works beautifully as part of a wider journey through southern Spain. Malaga, Seville and Granada are all within reach, each offering their own mix of Moorish architecture, culture and incredible food. You could easily pair a few nights exploring one of these cities with time at OKU for the best of both worlds. Closer to the hotel, there’s plenty to discover too, from the dramatic landscapes around Ronda to hikes in nearby national parks, dolphin-watching trips out at sea, or days spent exploring Sotogrande and Marbella.
The feeling you leave with
What stayed with me most about OKU Andalusia is the balance it strikes. It’s stylish but never try-hard, family-friendly yet still effortlessly cool, and relaxed while offering plenty to do if you want it. It’s the kind of place that adapts to your pace, whether that’s slow mornings by the pool, long lunches that roll into evening, or days spent exploring the richness of Andalusia before returning to somewhere that feels calm, considered and beautifully designed.
