    Day 1 Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town where you will be met and transferred to the Cape Grace on the bustling Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Children are especially welcome here and little ones are presented with a colourful activity pack on arrival. The children's menu is always a treat too. Every evening at 6pm, younger guests can enjoy African story time or an exciting gingerbread man decorating activity.

  • Days 2-3 Cape Town

Explore Cape Town! The concierge will recommend child-friendly Cape Town activities for daytime adventures. Head to Boulders Beach near Simon's Town to see the penguins or families with older children can join a 3 hour sunset cycle with a guide.

  • Day 4 - Franschhoek

A hire car will be delivered to the hotel this morning. Embark on the beautiful one hour's drive to the Winelands where your destination is the historic wine town of Franschhoek. Your refuge for the next few days is Babylonstoren Farm Hotel.

  • Day 7 - Garden Route

Choose from flying or driving to Kurland - a wonderful family retreat near Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route. If flying, return to Cape Town airport to drop-off your car and take a scheduled flight to George from where it is a one hour 40 minute drive to Kurland. If driving from Franschhoek, the drive takes around 5-6 hours through beautiful and variable scenery including the high mountain passes of the Klein Drakenstein Mountains.

Set in the foothills of the Western Cape Mountains within a vast private estate, Kurland is by-word for all things 'family-oriented'. It is a delightful hotel where you will stay in a suite with upstairs loft room for the children.

  • Days 8 - 10 Plettenberg

The Plettenburg area has so many things to see and do. Take a Kurland picnic to the beach or into the hills. Experienced horse riders can arrange a half full or full day on the beach or on the estate. There are wonderful hiking trails and beautiful beaches nearby, as well as cruises to see dolphins, whales and playful seals.

  • Day 11 - Kwandwe Private Game Reserve

Time for safari today! Head east to the malaria-free Kwandwe Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape (allow 2 and a half hours for the drive). Kwandwe is a 54,000 acre reserve where wildlife roams freely. There are four lodges and your destination is the 'fun' member of the Kwandwe family- the modern trendy Ecca Lodge where children can experience their first taste of safari!

  • Day 12 - 14 Safari

Kwandwe is Big Five safari territory - elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and black and white rhino. The game viewing is excellent year round and families and enjoy game drives in open safari vehicles. Guided bush walks, picnics on the Reserve, bush breakfasts and dinners are all part of the experience. The interactive play centre at the Ecca Lodge will keep youngsters busy for hours. Between safari activities, little ones can join cooking classes in the interactive kitchen. Children receive 'Rangers in Training' backpacks and on the last day, signed certificates are handed out confirming that all children are now fully fledged 'certified rangers in training'!

  • Day 15

There should be time for a morning game drive before heading to Port Elizabeth to drop off your hire car and connect with an onward flight to Johannesburg where you will check-in for your overnight international flight back to the UK.
